Did you see the extended version on Page 7?
I have the forums personalized to have 75 posts per page.
I might as well go lower it to the default...

The worst thing is, their not even efficient. They use 3 sprites and 5 scripts for something I could make in one script.

LOOOK AT THE SAMPLE PROJECTS!![]()
ITS STILL ART
NO, interactive art and art are VERY different.
I happen to SUPPORT interactive art. It actually is usually fun to play, not too hard to make like actual games, and still allows users to use their art skills
.
Look at the sample projects. All of the projects in all of the categories are all interactive in some type of way.
And it's not coincidental.

The thing is, half of us actually understand why we have an opinion, and why Mitchel Resnick made Scratch the way he did.

My PROPOSAL
The problem is that artists don't like to program as much and rather work and share their good art talent, while programmers don't have good art (usually. depends. i'm not criticizing any1 specific here. just compared to the non-programmers), yet are good at programming.
You have the programmers who make programmer art;
and the non-programmers who make non-programmer art.
I think people just need to make the 'art' more interactive or extensive (i'm thinking of this for my future projects as well); like animated art, like those old scratch movies. It takes some programming to get the timing and transparencies and stuff right (believe me..). Also, you could make a game with animated interactive art, making it more lively and interesting. They could also just add SOMETHING interactive if it's just one picture (can't think of anything right now..).
The non-programmers can improve on programming and interactivity;
The programmers can improve on art and immersion.
So like I said, only people who WANT change enough will act. If they don't feel like changing, then they'll stick to game-making or stick to art-displays. It's really the person's choice. And how others react usually depends on the more famous scratchers who appear on the front page (or so).
You 'could' make an art, then a game, then an art, then a game, and so on, to make things more balanced.
Don't forget that Scratch is about FOUR things (mainly):
EDIT: --Games: Yes it's about games. But games can be formed from the stuff below too. P.S. Sorry soupoftomato forgot to add this i was thinking of the keywords in scratch.
--Stories: If you got a story/book you're writing, then post it on Scratch, into certain galleries for other Scratchers to see
. You might want to add some pictures tho so that half the visitors with ADHD don't leave on sight.
--Music: You can also upload custom music you've made. Usually incorporating this into a game or a well-made art is not a good idea if it's not the main point of the project- just to keep that in mind.
--Art: Yes, it's about art too. But it's also about other things, so try to keep it balanced.
--Animation: These also deserve a place on Scratch, and the timing and stuff needed to make them takes some programming (as long as it's longer than 10 seconds lol)
P.S. Btw, I currently have 4 AMV projects I'm thinking about (one that I've started), and 2 game or game/art projects in mind.
P.P.S. If you find 'any' of my projects hyprotical at all/in any way, don't blame me, cuz like I said-- THIS IS A PROPOSAL.
