Seriously, don't save it for Scratch 2.0, add it NOW.
If people agree, I'll ask a mod to move this over to Suggestions.
-Art Will Have its own section. All art scratch projects will be moved over to THERE.
-Any art projects that are in the projects section, can be reported to a mod, so they can move it over there.
-Art projects will still be on the user's My Stuff page
-Art can have its own section on the front page. "Art that the Community is Loving..."
Easy, enough?
Opinions, please.

Seperating projects like that doesn't seem so good to me...
They already have default tags - search the tag "game", for example, and you'll see all projects that have been tagged with it.

But this way, people won't argue. Artists can upload art, with out being picked on.

How would the "art" projects get seperated from other projects in the first place? I rarely remember to tag my own projects before upload... I wonder how many people are the same?
And what about projects that are somewhere between the two... say, a game, where the viewer had to complete it to view some artwork?
I don't think that this would work for those two reasons ... I'm sorry, but I'll have to agree with Chrischb...
Also, I think this should be in suggestions

Yeah, I kinda don't want the website to be segregated.

I like the good art with many colours, layers ect but I fear the the "children's" art will be added to there as well. Might be a problem for some users.

I like the way it would have its on section, but I dont think it needs its on nav button. You could just make a section on the home page for a few art projects, and then you can click a link right next to it that can let you go to a art page full of art scratch projects...

Instead, I think the Scratch Team should make a separate place for art, like they did with the Text-Based Games. How about http://art.mit.edu/?
Wouldn't it be so cool to have a whole place for art? That'd be great!
The problem: They're so busy with Scratch already - managing another website would be crazy.

It should be separate from the Scratch website - that's why I avoided the term "scratch.mit.edu".

There should be the art portal and the programming portal. This would probably work. Although I like AddZero's idea better: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=33475&p=1 It would allow you to customize the front page (you wouldn't have to see art) and you could hang out on the game page if you wanted.

This is just mad. NO segregation. It's like the Civil War, can't you realize?

Good God people! Is this really what its come to? Really? Are you all playing a joke or something? Why must we fight? Why must we argue? Is there a purpose to this madness? For that is what it is. This is Madness! (No, This is SPARTA!) Sorry, had to do it.
People, please stop the arguing. The fault lies not in the discussed problem, but in the discussion of said problem. It is not a problem if the inflamers and warmongers were not inflaming or warmongering. I leave for 2 days, and already a flame war the size of the Great War has come up. This must be stopped immediatly, and effectivly. All those who have participated in this discussion have spread the flames of chaos and dissention, burned the feilds of peace and empathy, and made our nation of scratchers a lesser place to be. Obama speech FTW!
Rather than turn upon our scratcher brethern, why not do our best, together, to make it a better place? For it has all of the potentail to become as collosal as the great giants of the internet, as magnificent as Facebook or Youtube, and as widley known as Google and Myspace. For the people, by the people, I swear to you now that I will not let our great Scratch nation split apart because of the dissenters among us. I shall not. No matter the cost, I say to the demon of disunity and distrust "THOU SHALT NOT PASS!" Epic Gandalf Quote is Epic
I suggest that we put the past behind us, and let the community regroup, and become one, whole community.
Amen.

Thanks!
Exactly! The "Games" page would be projects that have the "Games" tag voted up.
and the same with "Art" and "Doll dress up"...
I don't think we can make everyone happy with the same front page anymore. We have varied interests- and that's OK!
(If it's not complaints of "Art" projects, it may be something else later.)
Lets make tags stronger. Make each tag page a 'front page' for that tag. Recently tagged "games", top tagged "games"... and a comment section on each tag page. So that we encourage the mini-communities in scratch.
Games would obviously be popular, but projects would have other tags they're voted on: platformer, mario, pokemon, racing, cards... so you can discuss and vote on projects for each of those interests easily.
And there's other benefits of making tags stronger... please read and discuss here.

I think it would be best if you could choose what types of projects you want to see and which you don't. Then people who don't like art could choose not to see it and people who don't like games could hide games. Though I'm not sure how to accomplish it.
