Scratch is great for making simple projects or posting pictures, but what about artists who want to go one step further? Scratch should be able to have options that work like Photoshop or Paint.NET, so there is more available to Scratchers.

Scratch wasn't meant to be a great art program... the paint editor only needs to be good enough that you can draw nice sprites with it (you can draw pretty good sprites on there).
If you want a 'more detailed' sprite, go to an art program and draw it, and then import it into Scratch.

Yeah... but I'd like a better color picker.
I use GIMP for my good projects...

Don't we all? XD
I use seashore. But I'm pretty sure GIMP is better.
And I agree, scratch does need more art tool options.
Not many, but at least better text boxes and a spray brush thingy.
