Cool, let's go buy a new Wii plugin that lets us view 9 year olds games!

fat chance. Nintendo, one of the greatest companies on earth, and scratch, a simple thing that only about 1/1000th of the people on earth know about. Ha! Besides, even some of the most well-known things aren't on any platforms other than computer. It's not going to happen.

It already supports Flash. It just needs java.

Jens: Thanks for that info. I know my kids are itching to use the wiimote for Scratch games in a manner similar to that used for Flash games.

Hi,

I have been working on the problem of using a WiiMote to control Scratch programs, using the the new remote sensor stuff.

If you have a pc a wiimote and a bluetooth dongle this is now possible, although not easy just yet (The code I have written does not yet have a simple install process but I'm sure that will change soon).

If you check out my post on Scratch Forums  you can find the code.

Don't need to use the symbols.

Mabey that's true, but you don't have to go around saying "You are wrong" to people, the Polite thing is to say that prabably wouldn't happen or something.

The wii isn't a computer, it is programmed differently too. So to convert scratch to the wii problems would be:
1) How are they going to program scratch on the wii(Nintendo is renowned for making games hard to program on their consoles)
2)No java(Java would have to be rewritten and exported which would also be a nightmare)
3) It would cost money compared to other wii games which is not a good idea that may take an average person ages to learn it(it would put them off getting it if it took money AND time)

This is why scratch can never go on the wii

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

Actually eurocracy, the wii has quite good support for programming languages. It can run C/C++ code and it can also run Linux and can run similarly to a computer.

Here is a site with wii programing tutorials
http://www.codemii.com/category/wii-programming-tutorials/

It may be possible to make an home brew version of scratch for the wii but it would probably be very difficult.

Hi, I am Archmage coder extraordinaire. I do Scratch, pascal, java, php, html, AS2 and AS3. Leave me a message if you want coding advice. Also check out my personal website, lots of good stuff about web development, Flash, and Scratch (v1 and v2) !

Well, apparently Nintento are already experimenting with Squeak-based software on their wii, and are even said to have ported Squeak to it:

http://hitoro.net/squeak/2007/12/06/nintendo-porting-squeak-to-their-own-research-os/

I haven't been able to find that port yet, however.

The Squeak-VM is highly portable, and if there were a squeak-port for the wii available you could probably also run the Scratch.image without much tweaking...

didnt you make scratch2exe??
