why do people try to sell things on scratch?

O.K. so i was visiting my friend and we went on scratch and it said he had 1 message and when he clicked it there was an add for shoes with a coupon http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/orionmcscratch/1002549 <-----this is the project look in the comments    cool

People do this to get money for their companies. They are typically not genuine Scratch users. This type of advertisement is considered spam.

People will do this so that Search Engines thinks they are more important, when they are mentioned in more websites, and they will have a higher rank in searches.

Use the Contact Us button to report a spammer.

You don't need to e-mail the Scratch Team - just flag the comment. The Scratch Team will see it and ban the commercial spammer.
