I have a problem here...
I know that squaring a number is multiplying that number by itself - so i know what that means and what it does. but.....
but what does tangent, sine, cosine and the other things mean or what does it do??
and how can i use it in my projects?
answers are always greatly appreciated

Well, there is a topic in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section of the forums that talks about this a bit...

Squaring a number can be written as x^2.
Tangent, Sine, Cosine, Arc Tangent, Arc Sine, and Arc Cosine are all parts of Trigonometry.
Sqrt is short for Square root.
Abs is short for Absolute Value.
Ln and log are short for Logarithm.
E^ raises e to the specified power.
10^ raises 10 to the specified power.
Hope this helps.
