Well, my thoughts about these 'methods' is that first of all:
IT SHOULD NOT BE RETURN OF THE GAMES
THERE ALREADY IS LOTS OF GAMES AND AN EQUAL AMOUNT OF ART, MATH, SIMULATIONS, STORIES, AND EVERYTHING ELSE ON SCRATCH!
Guys, HONESTLY, look at this:
imagine • program • share
That is our motto. Now let me EXPLAIN it to you people who act like you don't understand it.
IMAGINE: Think up a project you want to make. Be creative and have fun with it. Does that say anything about only games? NO
PROGRAM: This may be what got you guys thinking Scratch is supposed to be an only game website. But its not. Stories, art, simulations ect all have some programming! And the ones that don't or have very less are okay too! The program part means, since it is a programming language, use programming. In other words, use Scratch. Because Scratch IS programming. And EVERY PROJECT uses Scratch of course, which means EVERY PROJECT has programming even if there is very little or no blocks. THIS SAYS NOTHING ABOUT ONLY GAMES!
SHARE: Share means its a free website. We can build on eachother's work, which means REMIXING IS FINE! It also means we share the Scratch website. Every Scratcher shares this website. Which means gamers can't hog it and try to kick out artists or other kinds of Scratchers.
Now, let me clear something else up. What if Artists tried to kick you Gamers out? How would you feel? Not so good.
Scratch is programming. Not only games. There is a difference.
PROGRAMMING: Using Scratch to create SOMETHING
MAKING GAMES: Using Scratch to create a GAME
I hope that clears up the difference.
Now, another point I must make.
If you only want to see games, THEN ONLY SEE GAMES!
If you don't want to see art, simply don't look at art projects. And id you are unhappy something got on the front page, blame yourself because you got it there by viewing it to say 'Why is this top viewed?'
I really don't think there should be any 'return of the' or 'rise of the' or 'downfall of the' because there isn't supposed to be one type of project that is better or bigger than all the rest.
THE CAUSE OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE YOU! JUST DON"T LOOK AT IT IF YOU DON"T WANT TO SEE IT! DON"T VIEW IT IF YOU DON"T WANT IT TOP VIEWED!
The front page isn't a big deal either. Its just what is shown on the homepage for a limited time. And if it was all games, Scratch would only attract gamers and repel all others. But if there is a variety, then it will attract all kinds of people with lots of personalities.
AND REMEMBER, NOT EVERYONE CAN PROGRAM AS WELL AS YOU SO MAYBE THEY CAN'T MAKE A GAME. Should they just quit? No. Because quitting is another thing all you people are complaining about. Quitting is not always a publicity stunt, and its peoples choice. But they shouldn't quit because they thought they had to make a game but couldn't.
That is my point basicly in a (very large) nutshell.

I completely agree with you! If you mentioned math because of my "Return of the Math- The Radical Method!," I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. That purpose of that topic was to say exactly what you just did- that we're acting silly. The mention of math was mostly a joke, but also to show that I'm not hypocritical. I make math projects, and math is certainly not the most popular genre on Scratch, but I'm not whining. I don't actually think math should dominate, or that any project type should. Isn't it slightly hypocritical that these users are countering what they think of as "dominance" of one type of project (art) by attempting to dominate with another type of project (games)?

I thought not.

I meant art can be programming too

That makes no sense.
And guys, the reason some people don't program is because they can't because they are newer users. If we kick of newer users, they will never learn to program which is kind of the opposite of what we want

Agree. The programmers are being jerks. Although, nothing new much, eh? >.>

But the artists have already kicked us around.
And we are supported by the motto (programmers in general).
The program means to program what you imagined, half of the artists draw in a different paint tool import it to Scratch, and upload without taking a second-thought about how art can combine with those wonderful blocks Scratch was based around.

THAT'S EXACTLY MY POINT.
It makes NO sense that some draws a picture and slaps it onto a scratch project, when they can just USE AN ACTUAL ART WEBSITE.

Yeah... but they usually have a rule saying that you have to be 13 (of course, you can cheat it).
But most of the frontpaged artists (all, maybe?) seem to be over 13...

My opinion - any Scratch project is fine, as long as it involves programming. If you're on a programming website, you should be programming.
I am perfectly fine with art - but only if it has programming in it. If it's just a picture and no programming, it should be uploaded on an art website.
I just want to point out two things:
• Animations involve programming, so they are perfectly fine.
• Art projects that have programming are fine as well - no matter how little the scripts are.
Just put programming in your project and you're fine.
