Applet Linux Problem

Ok,

So after recent delays, I am forced to use my Linux (Ubuntu) Computer.

The problem is, The scratch applet doesn't play sounds on this computer, and the ones that are supposed to have sound don't work at all.

This sounds like a Troubleshooting issue...I'll move it there for you.

Re: Applet Linux Problem

Hmmm... I'm running Ubunt 9.10 and I can get sound playback through the Java player when viewing Scratch projects online. However, I have to close and reopen Firefox to make sound work again after my computer has been asleep.

I have icedTea6-plugin - which is a customized Java player that you can find in the Ubuntu repositories. Just open synaptic, search for the package and install it- that should help.

Also - there are two issues here. The first is general sound playback - that should be fixable. The second is Midi playback (the note / drum blocks) - that started working for me lately, but I don't know why... So even if you get sound working, the note blocks may not.

Good luck!

That is not in Synaptic Package Manager!

Re: Applet Linux Problem

I use also IcedTea6 Plugin in Firefox (on Ubuntu 9.10), to "view" Scratch-Programs, sound worked well the last months, until the last update of IcedTea6 to 6b18-1.8.1 since then the Scratch-Programs somehow freeze.
