I'm making a flash game and was thinking... How about letting the scratch community test it?
That way most people wouldn't be able to steal my idea! (and a few other reasons, like we're generally a lot nicer than a lot of sites).
Your name will be specifically included in the credits if you post something very helpful.
So anyway, all you have to do is tell me what you think and how to improve what I've made.
Here's what I have so far:
link
link to story missions (survival doesn't work)
Controls:
WASD or arrow keys to move, click to shoot. Enemies now spawn randomly. Press Q and E to change weapons (only two programmed to be used)
NOTE: due to my lack of memory saving, if you shoot enough and avoid enemies the game could crash. (the enemies and bullets are not deleted [yet], and variables are not called numbers etc.)
NOTE2: shots do disappear now, but enemies don't.
I already know, and am working on:
- more weapons
- more enemies
- enemy collision
- lag reduction
- title screen
- music
And I also know that I'll need:
- achievements
- upgrades
- different levels
- saving
CURRENT LIST OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL (and will get their name mentioned in the credits):
SeptimusHeap (for ideas)
Archmage (for telling me about the auto format button)
Kileymeister (special mineral name)
technoguyx (music)
plather (testing)

Just wondering is that AS2 or AS3? AS3 would be the best for that sort of flash because it has a much easier time with large amounts of objects on screen than AS2.
Offline
I don't know AS3 very well so I'm using AS2

It'd be nice if you didn't shoot automatically, it looks weird D:

I hope you make it playable soon.

For some reason I feel like adding the title screen before the enemy collision (and dying).
BTW your songs are being used... again.

Yay - I made it rain box monsters.

Awesome. So that's why you're quite awesome at scrach.
Health meter? That would be cool. Basic enemy takes 10 health a second with 100 health?
When you say "more enemies" Do you mean differnt types of enemies? If so that would be cool! Poison enemys that drain health for an amount of time.... big enemys....
This game is gonna be awesome! Well thats my opinion.

Make upgrades. No game is complete without upgrades.
And how about a storyline?
Upgrade ideas:
Faster cannon: I II III
Heavier cannon: I II III
Agiler? ship: I II III
Auto-turret: I (You get it, but it's weak) II (Better...) III (Best auto-turret)
Missles: I (Auto-shoots weak homing missles) II (Better...) III (Best missles)
Multi-shot: I (Ship shoots in a V shape) II (Ship shoots in a \|/ shape) III (Ship shoots in a \|/ shape and from the back)
Offline
BOSSES. That would be epic.
More upgrade ideas:
Mini-Ship: I (Summons a mini ship to aid you) II (Gives you 2) III (Guess what? 3!)
Cloaking: I (Enemies can't see you for a short time) II (Longer time) III (Longest time)

These could be easy enemies:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/arcade/galaga/galagasheet.png
Also, maybe every 1000 kills you get a MEGABOMB which damages everything on the screen a TON. There could be achievements for killing the 1st boss, killing 100 enemies, upgrading a weapon, winning the game, etc.

I'm really only using my own art, so those enemies won't fit...
The achievements aren't that creative (no offense) though...
x kills
x time played
etc are boring achievements.
Something more like...
shoot an enemy to explode and cause a chain reaction
could be more interesting...

But those are harder to program
Use a MEGABOMB to kill a boss?

What about my ideas? (EDIT: I saw that I was really helpful, but you never replied to my post)
And, what program are you using? It runs great.

Flash. And seashore. And scratch (for pre-rendering particle explosions?). And snapZ pro X. And quicktime player. And flash player. And safari.
Ok, here's the reply.
For some reason I had not thought of bosses, so you're added as helpful.
EDIT: where's plather, I told him to post here...

Did you like my upgrade ideas?
Achivement ideas:
First Blood - Beat level 1.
All for One - Beat level 1 with full health.
One for All - Beat any level with 1 bullet.
Boss Blaster - Beat all bosses.
Speedy Takedown - Beat a level in less than 10 seconds.

First blood will be level two. (level one is tutorial and you don't fight).
This is ironic. You seem to be able to read my mind.
I was planning to have a ghost ability (you can't be hit for a few seconds).
UPGRADES (this probably will be the final list) more like different robots though and not all might be added:
-green robot
faster shooting
-blue robot
slow natural healing
-ghost robot
temporary invincible
-red robot
massive shot
-yellow robot
teleport
-gray robot
default, no special
-gold robot
HAX!

Sorry about a double post, but it HAS been a few hours.
Here's some random art (you may consider it concept art) from the game:

Try to guess what the first two are for.

Idea for achivement: I Know How to Shoot a Gun! - Beat level 1.

I've had a nice brainwave for achievements. How about every achiecment provides some sort of credit to get upgrades?
Ok let me think of some achievments...
Well if you had a score for every level I suppose
Mamma would be proud - Get 100000 score on any level.
Big da boom - Kill 10 enemies with an explosive shot.
1 more step... - Finish level 2
Armed and dangerous - get 2 upgrades
All I can think of.
Edit
Added:
Standerd's holiday - Complete any level without firing a standerd shot (not sure if this would be possible but nvm)
Eat lead! - Complete any level using just the rapid fire shot (or if jsm isn't planning on rapid fire, then standerd shot.)
We pulled through! - Complete any level with 1 health remaining

Power-Up ideas: (ALL power-ups are lost when life is lost.)
Triple shot - Shoots in 3 directions. Icon looks like \|/
Bomb - Bullets explode on impact. Icon looks like O with a fuse.
Helper - Makes an AI mini-ship follow you until it is hit (or you lose a life). Icon looks like a ship.
Credit - Gives you money. Icon looks like a cents sign.
Shield - Shields your ship for 1 hit.
Offline
Boss Power-Ups: (You get these from beating a boss. They last forever. They level up the power-up they correspond to. They do nothing without the corresponding power-up.)
Super shield: Shield lasts for 2 hits.
Quad shot: Shoots in 4 ways.
Double helper: Makes 2 helpers come.
Frag bomb: Makes the bomb shoot out fragments when exploded.
Offline
Hang on, arn't powerups and upgrades differnt things?
Powerups are things that are set on the screen but upgrades are passive abilities that you can get after level? (notice the ? at the end)
