Re: Panther development thread

er, scriptular... I have exported changes  and reopened project. problem is, date time block will report the date and time on the stage, but if you put it into an = block with any variable, it will report them as being the same!

But...... that's not really effective, very arbitrary, and kind of useless..... I mean, it doesn't change the skin, the main part of the UI.

Re: Panther development thread

True. How about we add different skins, like:

Panther (Classic)
Cameo
Rainbow
Black and white
Sparky

Wait, doesn't it come with a file called ScratchSkin?

We could have our own, and make little contests once it's released!

Gir, you're good at art, right?

Ooh! How about a skin called Panther? It would be of a panther?

Why would there be a Gir skin? Sparky sounds cool, and Sparks has been a lot more active in this project.
Anyway, making skins isn't easy, because some parts are set in the code and some are images.

What's wrong with nXIII (or even better, if we actually got it to do it in superscript!)
But considering that there are around 275 images in the Scratch Skin, plus however many morphs have properties like color that are relevant, making ONE is a lot of work, let alone 5 or 6!

Well, it's not like you make many suggestions or post very often.... (or are we just drowning your posts with like 200 every day?)

Re: Panther development thread

I've made a new block! It's based on the <list exists?> block I requested earlier in this thread.

So, I've made <variable %s exists?>!

blockspec:

Code:

('variable %s exists?' #b #variableExists:)

instance:

Code:

variableExists: aVar
^ (self varNames includes: aVar) or: [(self ownerThatIsA: ScratchStageMorph) varNames includes: aVar].

And it works!!! It will only return a variable as well! Not a list!

hahahaha, oohhhhh dear. I did wonder why I had a skin named after me! I'm all for Scratch skins, though as nXIII said, they'd be a lot of work. Perhaps if we supplied a folder with all the images that needed changed and offered competitions for best designed skins to be released with the next update of Panther, or a section where the skins can be shared as folders on the site?

and gir, I'm very sorry if you feel left out, I like your ideas, I just don't hear from you often.

nXIII (who won't see this till late evening (by my clock) if I know him, did you manage to replace the Scratch cat as the .EXE image for Panther?

Nice weather here to! Do you like the new block? I've just started the PC compiler, and it will read a 100-150 character file in less than 4 seconds!

Re: Panther development thread

Idea: Panther needs a TOS.

Panther is free to edit, but must be given credit. I don't want any of those 3 scary mods that just spawned up in the forums (That just steal blocks as their own) stealing Panther blocks.

OK, but this is long:

set num to 297
repeat until <(letter num of (line 5 of file at URL http://pantherprogramming.weebly.com/3/feed)>
  change num by 1
change num by -1
set Recent Minifeed Post to (letters 297 - num of file at URL http://pantherprogramming.weebly.com/3/feed

(Can someone disable BBCode for this post?)
