Um, yeah... I tried mesh out, and it messed up my copy of scratch... 
Can anyone tell me where to find the original image file?

I tried saving the mesh into the image file.
I followed Jonathanpb's instructions exactly.
I'm on Windows XP, SP3.
And that image file was corrupt.

I never save Mesh - I never wanted to.
To be honest, I'm not a Mesh expert - I just happened to know how to get it, use it, and program with its features - but nothing else. ^_^

It messed up Scratch! I tried to do this, and whenever I open Scratch the program says it cannot find some file. What do I do? I'm using Vista.

Right-click any spot on the System Browser and select accept. A box will pop up, asking you to put in your initials. This really doesn't matter, so input whatever you want and click "accept". There you go! Oh - once you've inputed something into the "initials" box, you won't be asked again whenever you want to accept something.

mesh games can be slow though, so I wouldn't recommend any big games

You could add this:
If you want to have Mesh without shift-clicking, go in the browser to Scratch-UI-Panes > ScratchFrameMorph > menu/button actions > shareMenu: and replace "Sensor shiftPressed" with "1 > 0". You now have Mesh without shift-clicking!
