Re: Panther development thread

well we decided that it was dangerous because it could lead to innapropriate sites, or virused sites. It would be good, and it's soooo easy to use, but it is dangerous. then again, we've got lots of dangerous possibilities with Panther, such as file wiping. imagine a project that had the most common path to a text file vital for the running of windows? it could clear it, or in a more experienced case rewrite it to do something different. that's a lot more dangerous than a site if you ask me, because people have firewalls and virus protection. so maybe it is worth implementing...

I do like them. The version of the project can be stored in the project itself, and can be compared against the UserVerNum.

a couple of things:

as Panther can read a line of a file, the codes file type, panther version, project version and suchlike don't need a name before them, as long as the line on which they are placed stays the same in all ref files:

:info
ref
Panther 1.0
1.0

:files
5

:files to parse:
<header.txt=img> (these still need to be in full)

this way it may be harder to read the file and understand, but we save A LOT of space and reading time. As soon as it knows that it is a ref file, the Panther project can tell which lines of the file refer to what.

thoughts?

Well, if we ever add anything, we have to change the project code every time, I just though if we wanted to multi-use a function it would be quicker AND it's easier for people to understand whats going on with the function names.

Hey! We could start making our own programming language! How about that, eh?

Oh, and I wouldn't include the Open Browser block or the clear file (unless theres away of only using files in the Panther directory)

@MathWizz: Hows the java player coming along?

Put in that I/O thing which warns you when its about to open a webpage. And maybe another one which blocks the file wiping and writing to if it is in certian folders?

Except that when you come out the sprites aren't viewable in the container, but that doesn't matter. And it doesn't happen all the time.

Progress so for?

...whatev

I am currently fixing cloning in presentation mode, I'm kind of astonished that it worked... oh wait I uploaded it nvm.

I don't think deleting works, does it?

Anyway, making variables also doesn't work (I don't think)
I am also working on PantherOnline, but please don't register because.... nothing will happen.

Sperry, how do you think text should be presented in Panther? a list or stamped out by a character sprite?

That's another thing. We need to implement that 'type %s' block.

List is faster, easier, and has a built-in scrollbar.

Re: Panther development thread

that's the thing, list is fast and scrolling, but typed out looks so much nicer. with cloning, we could even create a sprite per character, allowing scrolling without rendering.

I think thats going too far... sprite for each character....

You could always have view page at a time and no scrolling bar though

Re: Panther development thread

I've hit a minor snag that means more work for us with the Panther online. when a file is uploaded, it is hosted with Weebly and given a hosting id. when the file is updated, reloading it changes the file address, so every time we update a file, the ref file (which we can't update) has to have the file address stored inside refreshed.

any suggestions?

Re: Panther development thread

nXIII, did you add the 'round _ to nearest _' and 'estimate _ to _ths place' blocks that me and Sperry made?

And, can you post the 'while true' function again?
