It's because comments are done in a technology called AJAX, which loads parts from a webpage to another (same domain) without refreshing it in browser. Also (mis)called Web 2.0 technology. Apparently it loaded the error page, and it took the look from the comment section.

So weird. Maybe another MIT class has hacked scratch. I mean, aren't the servers AT MIT? Otherwise funny though.

How about:" Maybe you should take a bathroom break. Go on now."
That would be a nice error message.

How about ' it looks like you need a bathroom break. Go on now.'
lol!

Maybe: "Take a 10 minute break then refresh this page, i know you've been on far too long, the weasle invasion should have been delt with by then anyway."
how about that?

There is a way to get around it:
1) Open port 16477, connected to http://503.scratch.mit.edu.
2) This will redirect you to a POST action page.
3) Buy a whole bunch of weasel food...
4) pour it down the port.
5) You'll be redirected again to the same page, but using the GOPHER protocol.
6) Here you will see a live webcam stream of the weasel's turning away from the servers, to get the food...
7) Now, the HTTP version of the server will work.

Please don't tell me you actually tried that...
If you did, then you can find out how it works at fixrodent503s.com
Here's how to actually get at a scratch page while the server is down:
1) Go to Google.com.
2) Perform a search that will bring up the page you want.
3) Find the result. Click the little blue 'Cached' link at the bottom.
4) Voila! Your page as it appeared when Google last indexed it.

Once I tried to edit the project notes in a project, but those weasels escaped from the zoo. And boy, were they hungry!

What about "Looks like scratch has gotten into those wires again! "Scratch, get here now! Bad kitty!"
Or what about
"Marge, someone broke the server!"
Or
"Note to self: Don't suspend the server from the roof of a 7-story building."

I believe the Scratch Team has been successful in beating off the weasel invasion. I'll have topic topic closed to prevent unnecessary necroposting.
