Love its

Many times, Scratchers will have their first sentence in the project notes something like this:

"Press Love it if you do!" or "20 Love its and I will make a sequel."

I don't particulary like either one. It seems like the person is just trying to get love its to become "popular" by forcing/persuading others tolove it. But Scratch isn't about becoming really popular or having people the best project. It's about learning how to program.

Anyways if you really are concerned about your loveits and your project is really good, you should not have to worry about people loving it. They will love it if they actually do and there is no need for trying to persuade them to do so.

For the second phrase, you should not have other people decide whether you make a sequel or not. You make a sequel if YOU want to. Anyway making a sequel is mainly only going to affect you. You will be more advanced in your Scratching skills.

Post any thoughts or comments you have.

Re: Love its

I agree, however even though that case, luv it may be good for people, if you have a project and even though it has views, there are no comments and luv its, the user just may give up hid idea, but if he has multiple luv its and comments saying "cool!" and etc, it just may raise his morale and he may continue on his game, now to do that he would have to make it better, and when he does, he looks for other projects and he would make a scrolling game and because of this he just learned now how to make scrolling games, and etc, and that it what scratch wants

so yes most people use it to get popular, but is that A bad thing?

Re: Love its

Maybe the user would like to know that people actually like it? The user dosen't have to 'Love it' if they want to - only if they love it! You wouldn't love a project you didn't like, you think?

Firstly, the 'Love it if you do!' makes sense - that's what it's there for! We wouldn't have a 'Love it' button otherwise.

Secondly, I kind of agree with you, but that's just so that the project is liked and well known - and again, they'll love it if they like and won't if they don't.

It makes sense to me - if you're thinking of taking the 'love it' button away I'm afraid I'm not with you on that one.
