Re: Scratch-can it be taken seriously?

With so many different projects it is hard for some projects to get frontpage. A lot of luck is involved in getting frontpage.

... Also, what did you mean for this thread to be about? The title says "Scratch-can it be taken seriously?" but then you go on about how some projects don't get frontpage. I am somewhat confused :S

Re: Scratch-can it be taken seriously?

Well, Scratch can be taken seriously. But to be honest, other game makers are by far better. Flash, for example. But scratch is better because

A) it has a kind website
B) it is easy to use
C) it is free

Which most other game makers are not. Scratch is designed, however, for education and fun, rather than commercial game production.

Yes, I couldn't help but post a reply. But I'm not taking the $1 bet!

Re: Scratch-can it be taken seriously?

I find it unfair that a project which is actually completely bad can get most views/downloads when I have made a project three times as good. (eg Cube World and some of my games)

Re: Scratch-can it be taken seriously?

Well yeah, the reason is because this program is free. Every minutes, a lot of projects are added. Honestly, I can't really view them all. So maybe it's the same to other people: they can't view all those projects at once... so good projects are left unappreciated :'(

The people who use the forums the most have a greater chance of being recognized. People always use the forums, and we see something we liek, we click it. We can go to that person's stuff, see there favs, and now someone else is noticed

Re: Scratch-can it be taken seriously?

But honestly some great projects are unknown. Ofcourse, only the top loved and featured projects are actually recognised as good , the rest depends on luck and popularity.Infact even getting loveits also depends considerably on popularity. So we need a better arrangement.....
