my project stopped working

okay, so this is what happened:
1. i saved and x'ed out of scratch
2. i opened up my project again
3. i didn't change anything
4. when i clicked the green flag (i always use that to start the script), NOTHING HAPPENED. okay, fine, the green flag blinked once and a red outline appeared around all the program blocks in the script.

what i tried:
i tried deleting my most recent changes (removed the blocks i put in most recently)
i tried removing all the costumes
i tried removing all of the sound effects
NONE OF THESE METHODS WORKED

please help me!!

Re: my project stopped working

Don't worry, Scratch will never spam you.

The "red outline" error basically means the script does something that creates an error in Scratch. It happens for different reasons, so check your project for any these:

• Nothing ever divides by 0. If you're dividing by a variable, make sure that variable never reaches 0.

• You don't have any scripts that you copied between a sprite and the stage that contain blocks the other doesn't have. For example, the stage doesn't have any blocks in the motion category, most from the pen category, or the "switch to costume" block. Meanwhile, sprites don't have the "switch to background" block that the stage does.

• You don't have any blocks that have to do with variables you've deleted.

Those are the most common reasons for the error. If you're still having problems, upload the project so someone can take a look at it.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Trying to square root a negative number also causes an error

Re: my project stopped working

This is usually a scripting problem.

May you upload the project?
