Greetings mletreat ,
I need you to answer these question for the scratch online magazine:
1.What was your impression about scratch ?
2.What do you like about scratch ?
3. What do you dislike about scratch ?
4.How much would rate scratch (1 to 10 1=worst 10=best) ?
5.What improvements do you plan to bring into the scratch website
P.S answer them as quickly as possible .

Hey ashwinsm-
I'd be honored to answer your questions
1. My impression is that Scratch is a powerful tool for creative expression. I myself have enjoyed creating art all my life and never got to use anything as dynamic when I was a kid (I had watercolors...though maybe there is a way to combine the two...)
2. I like most that users are collaborating on projects with other users and that you can remix projects. Some of the best art/music/architecture/ideas in the world are those that are inspired by others...and it is also a great way to learn new techniques!
3. I don't like to see people posting hurtful messages to one another.
4. 10+++
5. I'm not sure yet...I'd like to work on ways to encourage users to share their projects more, collaborate on new things, and, of course, be more respectful to one another.

I hate to intervene an be rude (maybe), but scratch isn't even close to the standards of a true flash or 2D game maker. The processing power (amount of scripts that can be active at once) are quite obviously lower than a normal 2D game maker. also it would be 1,000,000X better if scratch could run off of adobe shockwave player on the web! the speeds would be increased to amazing heights! scripting blocks that need to be added, there are a few, but they are not really important.

scratch overall is a good program to learn the beginnings of programming, not something I could stick with, of course I'm going to move on to 3D games later, but it would be kool if scratch could get a better running speed

Yeah, I know, but for most people this is
A) Easy and simple to learn
B) Free
C) Designed for kids.
The majority of the Scratch users are kids. Sure, I'd love to get flash. But guess what: it's TOO EXPENSIVE! I downloaded the 30-day trial, which was great, but ended. So i switched to Scratch and was able to make fairly Okay games but allowed to make some nonetheless.
Still, I think that Scratch's community is quite a kind one. If you have a bad game here, people tell you how to improve upon it, congratulate you for your effort, and tell you that you're a great scratcher-in-training.
Other programming websites, the simply insult you if you do a bad job, then you start feeling horrible for yourself, and eventually quit. But Scratch is designed to be a kind, safe, and great community which makes it

I don't really know if switching the language of the player would make a great deal of difference. Also, I think andres said he picked java because it wasn't owned by adobe as apposed to flash and shock wave.
And of course scratch isn't as powerful as other languages. It was meant to be used as a learning tool instead of a language for professional development.
