That's pretty much what happened to me. Mine had at least three viruses, and I was off for at least 7 months.

GET UBUNTU! Ubuntu has NEVER viruses and it's COMPLETELY FREE!

Rhythmbox is a awesome media program, too.
And ubuntu has more games than you can introduce tongue
