At 4:00 PM (16:00), a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Baja California and is currently provoking Southern California with a series of quakes. I want to know if everyone is ok and who felt it. I live San diego.

I heard it was 7.2 magnitude.

That would depend largely on the scale you are using.
Or source for that matter...

Well there was one a couple years ago by the Illinois and Indiana border, and people could feel it where I live, but I wasn't awake at the time.

I've been noticing that there has been many natural disasters occurring lately. I wonder why.

Maybe the same reason why the average tempeture goes up and down over time?
That has nothing to do with it, because earthquakes are caused by shifts in titanic faults. Global warming doesn't go to that affect. It's just been happening so frequently lately that now that I think about it, it is starting to freak me out.

Indeed.

I have felt what it feels like to go into a earthquake and trust me it is not fun at all. The ground shifts so constantly that you have to surf the ground to stand up, without the possibility of being crushed.

I never felt an earthquake before, but there was one at my elementary school about 15 years before I started going there. There's a huge crack in my third grade classroom from it. 0_0

I was in the quake
Nothing bad happened.
I was in San Diego to visit my dad and I was playing Infamous when the TV started shaking. We thought the neighbors were making stuff shake around (We live in one of those houses that I one big house split in half.) or my sister jumping on my bed while she watched disney. We went online and found out it was an earthquake XD

Recently there was an aftershock here in Chile too.
Nothing bad happened here either.

That's true! The earthquake wasn't that bad, and you couldn't even feel the aftershocks! But I heard Interstate 5 was closed because of fatal damage in Camp Pendleton (a military camp somewhere in San Diego)

It became summary here about 2 months early. It's some weird climate change.
I wonder if it's related to the earthquakes...

No, I mean that their both caused because of nature, so if nature changes a little, then other stuff changes.

I think its just because there's a new island in the making due to tectonic plate changes.
