It just means your browser wasn't able to download the images at the time you tried, it might be a simple network glitch. Sometime a simple page refresh gets rid of this.
When Firefox hasn't an image, if the HTML image tag (img) has an alt attribute (which is mandatory in HTML 4), it displays this text (which should be descriptive of the image, since that's an alternative to the image) instead.
