Yeah, don't bother explaining, I know all about that...  But my math teacher used a proof like yours, no sig figs involved.

Heck no.

2 is a variable for 2.5

2(2.5)+2(2.5)= 5

Heck no.

2 is a variable for 2.5

2(2.5)+2(2.5)= 5

But then it's recursive: 2 is a variable for (2.5), so 2 is a variable for ((2.5).5), really (((2.5).5).5), or more accurately (((( ... ).5).5).5) which you can't really plug into an equation.

Yeah, so more like: 2.5(.5)^∞

It's really zero (0), because .5*.5 is .25, .25*.5 is .125, etc. and it eventually goes to zero at infinity.

And you can't use 2 because it's a variable with a value. Use ((( ... ).5).5).5

Re: I can prove 1+1=1

I was totally annoying my friend saying "there's a problem you can't solve with a calculator!" and he was like "wut" and I said "divide by zero." His calculator didn't display error, it just mistakenly said zero.

Re: I can prove 1+1=1

saying a=b and a+b=b contradicts itself unless all numbers are zero.

Here is the proof. It was developed by a Professor Pastoralism of NC State.

a=b.....................Lets just say this.
a^2=ab.................Multiply by a.
a^2-b^2=ab-b^2......Subtract b^2 from both sides
(a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b)....Separate terms
a+b=b...................Divide (a-b) From both sides.
a=1.......................Set a to 1
b=1......................Therefore b=1 due to the first stateswomen
1+1=1....................Plug in
2=1.......................There you have it! Taproom that 1+1=1.
