Most Useful/Useless Block

What do you think the most useful and te most useless block is?
My opinion:
Useful: Forever. You can't do any games without it. Would be Green Flag Clicked, but there's too many substitutes for that.
Useless: Forever If. Just takes up memory, can easily be recreated with two blocks, bound to confuse new users, should be deleted.

Most useful: When green flag clicked (You can't do ANYTHING without this one)
Least useful: Forever if

I would agree if you couldn't make substitues for it with ease.

Name a substitute. If I could I'd bet 5 dollars you can't name one that would work.

When (RANDOM KEY) pressed.

What does money have to do with anything?
Well, you can use the broadcast and receive block instead of green flag. But you would have to put the scripts in order and add variables.

I forgot about that one >_<

Other than that there are no other ones that can be the only block.

No, you could use "when sprite ____ clicked", "broadcast____".

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Well... forever if is actually faster than an if inside a forever.

No, its definitely forever wait until. I think the scratch team confirmed it in some post.

Yeah, but forever is a bit more practical.

Re: Most Useful/Useless Block

Most Useful: When Flag Clicked.
Most Useless: Forever If, because of what everyone has said. And you only need 1 "turn X degrees" block, you can use a negative to turn to the other side. But still it's useful for newbies.  tongue

Re: Most Useful/Useless Block

Most Useful:  Broadcast (it isn't most necessary, people)
Least Useful:  ( )mod( )  I've never had to use it.  Ever.  Forever If starts bad habits but can be useful once in a while.

Forever is extremely useful. Of course, you really wouldn't need it in one of your animations, unless you were looping something.
