How to use paint items in scratch

I made a drawing in paint the other day and i cant seem to load it as a sprite,backround, or anything else what should I try?

What file type did you save it as?

I think that should work. I'm not sure.

I always save my files a png. Try that.

When I make a sprite in paint, I open scratch and click on create new sprite then i click on import. This should work for you too hopefully!
