Scratch Likes Simple

It's just something that I've been thinking about.

An okay game that is very easy is much more likely to get to the frontpage than a difficult game that is amazing.

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

Sadly, yes, that probably will happen, while AMAZING games that are difficult don't often make the front page  sad

Yeah . . .  I'm wondering if I should make Gods Quest 3 easier or if I should keep making it the way it is and to heck with the front page . . .

You should continue making it the way it is and don't care about whether some Noobs think it's too hard. I enjoy hard games, and so do most of the hardcore scratchers. Keep making it difficult. If it's winnable, I'm fine with it!

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

I agree.
Simple games get more love-its than the games I think about a lot to code. This wrecked Scratch Kart Demo as well as the lag.

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

Unfortunately, people seem to complain if it's hard... but they also complain if it's easy... There's really no way to not get complained at...

...Especially if you build in a way to cheat a difficult game, then "forget" to bring it up, until 2 months, 3 weeks later... but still not say exactly what the cheat is... after said project was curated... not that I'd do anything like that, though  wink  (muahuahuahua)

But building in a way to make it easier would be an idea...

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

Drat, if that's true, I'll never be famous, because I only put up games on my account that I deem good enough; simple games almost never make the cut.

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

I think God's quest is actually the perfect difficulty for a game. It isn't to easy, and isn't to hard. But I still think it's a little on the hard side.  tongue

That's true, but also a well-programmed easy game has even less of a chance.

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

It's true. My bird jump game is my most popular yet, but it's very simple. And hard. But still, it's code is really simple to put together.

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

they can be equally good, the problem with easy games is it gets a tad boring to make, the same coding techniques you already know and you're just repeating them and getting bored by the tedious task of making the game

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

Yes... I see many complex and fun games but not many have many views or love-its.  hmm

Hard games that are a simple concept?

Re: Scratch Likes Simple

Depends.

smile  Space War 4 is hard for most people (I usually can't beat my own final boss  lol ), but it was front paged for a week-and-a-half with:

2025 views
203  love its
12 remixes by 10 jealous-   ...nevermind.

Anyway, as you can see,
It depends.  neutral
