They don't work very well, and I'd rather the scratch team fixed the process, rather than documenting the current poorly designed model for galleries.
If you want to post to a gallery, you first have to "subscribe" (why? so that it appears on your list of galleries).
Then you have to go to "my stuff" an dcheck the boxes on the projects you want to add to a gallery (I don't know how that works now that "My stuff" no longer shows all your projects on one page).
Then you have to click on add to gallery
Then you have choose which galleries you want to add the selected projects to.
The whole "gallery" thing is badly thought out and needs to be redone with a totally different metaphor and user interface.
