Man, the Scratch team is cracking down on removing words from my post so that I sound like I should be scrubbing out my mouth!

I recently posted a comment where I used the "C" word, and not in a bad way, which is used in average children's programming, and it was removed.

I also said that I was mad about how the community was becoming full of quitters, and they removed 2 words and gave me a message to be respectful!

Wha?   mad   Saying that the community's full of quitters isn't disrespectful!  In fact, this community is full of a lot of quitters.  This is the kind of thing I'm talking about.  The rules are getting too strict.

That's a rather rude word to use on a site with 6 year old's on it though.

Why feel scared about posting the topic?

Whilst I personally agree that some rules are a little over the top (e.g. No posting emails) the Scratch Team are always open to discussing them and updating them if a meritable alternative is proposed.

I guess I just felt scared because I wasn't sure of what the Scratch Team would say if I said I hated their rules.

Posting e-mail addresses is usually highly discouraged in the Scratch Forums because it can be used for abusement (cyber-bullying, illegal solicitation, etc.). Especially considering that many of the users are minors, e-mail addresses are removed from the forums for security reasons, which is one of the Scratch Team's major and primary concerns regarding the website.

Question: Would posting a link a site you like, which has an optional payment thing be considered innapropriate?

Yes...I guess my question and the donation thing of Scratch would be in the same category, so I'm guessing it's fine.

Interesting question... I have seen some people mention websites or post links to web pages belonging to sites where payment is needed to access premium options (ie. deviantART, RuneScape, Roblox), but this was usually in terms of showing something off or meeting other Scratchers who are also members of that site. I can only remember one case where the link was removed [from a signature] because it looked like an ad that was trying to get people to come and sign up and was bleedingly close to being commercial spam. I would assume that so long as it is not for commercial purposes it would be okay... but we can always contact the Scratch team to be absolutely sure.  tongue

When I swore on xat, I gave a warning to everyone to see if it was ok with them.

P.s I don`t go on xat anymore. Not allowed. I snook on there. My parents caught me.
