Yooooo wazaaaappp... greetings from Brazil land of soccer, hello everyone I couldn't think of a better name to put in so I guess now I am SupaClassAHacker anyone who ever wached GITS knows about that, so anyways I was randomly surfing the web when I found this amazing website and hopfully I'll have something better to do with my time now that I know about Scratch, either way I study information technology and I kinda have an interest in teaching so thats why I found Scratch so amazing, I haven't really gotten used to it yet cuz I mean there are somethings that I'm pretty familiar with like variables ,operators, conditional statements and stuff like that... I haven't gotten used to drawing(I suck at that) and the whole music thing, well I think thats all, I hope we can all get along well and I'm off to find out what a list really is (is it like a string? is it like a vector? is it both at once and neither one?...).

A list is an array, or more collection, they can hold strings and integers/floats.
Greetings and hope you have fun.  smile

A list on scratch is like a list in real life.
Show your list when making one, and you can add an item in the list by clicking the plus sign and then typing the item you want.

You can add stuff to lists in a script. Dazachi's Commander is a good example.

Music/Sound basically allows you to play notes, instruments and drums in projects. My simple "Scratch Music" project is a good example  wink

Drawing = Pen? I fail at that too  sad

Re: ITopic: New Members...introduce yourself here!

My principal has asked me to teach "game programming" to middle school students, something I have not done before.  Someone suggested Scratch would be a good place to start.

Any suggestions on where and how to start would be appreciated.

First show them Scratch.  They should be able to figure it out.  Then show them flash, but give them a really good tutorial, like this one (this is the #0, there are 0-8):

http://www.kongregate.com/games/Kongregate/shootorial-0

That also has a link to a place you can download a 30-day trial version of Adobe Flash CS3.

After that... I don't know.  Java? C++?

*double posting*
Id say, go to C# or maybe Greenfoot, Greenfoot is like a mid way point between scratch and a proper programming language, since its quite simple, but its coded in text (But you need the Java JDK to run it,) and C# is very simple(For me at least) and is quite like scratch.
Then after that, unless you've finished the course, then you can go onto Java and C++ etc. once you know the basics.
