Hello Frazzles I suggest you learn by experimenting with the Scratch. If you can't figure something out, ask on the forums, or search for a project that should have the scripts you need. For example, if you wanted to learn scrolling, you could search "perfect scrolling" and then download the the project and use the script.

Just fiddle around and make some projects. look at stuff that was made by people who make simple but good projects to find out how to do stuff like scrolling.
Learn from your mistakes, if something doesn't work, try again. If it still doesn't work, ask on the forums or try finding a project with the script you need in it.
I remember when i first tried scrolling, i totaly messed up, not having a clue about how to do it. But now I know fine how to do it.

Welcoem to scratch! How I learned is by slowly taking scripts from projects(like scrolling, movement, jumping) and see how they work.
Thats the smart way, i just went for it, and ran into wall after wall, most of them fell over after i tried hard enough, so whats your choice? Smart, or persistent?
