Okay, here it goes... I can't stand the rules on these forums. I mean, we aren't allowed to post links or adoptables, and there's so many other rules that I don't even understand. I think the Scratch Team will be mad at me for saying this, but I don't like their forums rules!

We are allowed to post adoptable links, just not spam them in threads.
You are allowed to post links!
What do you think the rules are... Please tell me, I can explain.

I don't really think they'll be mad at you. It's very understandable. They are only trying to help the forums. Its OK to not like the rules, just as long as it doesn't happen often. You should respect rules, but its really OK not to like them, but you can't do anything about it. Just as long as you don't break them, it totally OK to not like them, again, just so long as it doesn't happen all the time...

I think he's getting "links" mixed up with "commercial links" - maybe there has been a misinterpretation?

yup. You can post links to any site that is appropriate for scratch and isn't about trying to sell you something.

Well, sometimes I see links that are made to other game websites or something, but then I saw a member of the Scratch Team who closed the topic because the game cost money or something. And then I made a thread for any links or adoptables that people wanted to put on the forums, but then a Scratch Team member closed it too! So, I just don't like the rules.

I don't like the rules either but we have to follow them.

Okay, now I've got a new complaint. I've seen a certain Scratch Team member (I won't mention names) keep closing topics for almost no reason! I was just on one about someone's pet fish who had just died, and then he closed it because it was "getting off topic". He'll probably close this next.

That's a valid reason for closing a topic. Sometimes topics go off of their purpose and become pretty pointless, so the scratch team closes them.

It was closed because the author asked it to be closed
Or if it wasn't for that reason it was for what you said. That's a valid reason to close a topic

I don't want to reveal, but the Team member closed the topic that i wrote about Ozzy (my fish who died) because it was getting off-topic. People were talking about some post someone said. I don't blame them for closing it, honestly...

As some Scratchers have said upthread - it's totally fine to say you dislike the rules, as long as it is said respectfully. In fact, sometimes we like to have conversations about the rules to see if there is a better way to address the problem the rule was designed to solve.
For example - the no commercial links rule was mainly created to fight spam. Unfortunately, there are professional spammers out there who sometimes try to pose as Scratchers so they can put links to their sites in our forums, which, believe it or not, makes them a good deal of money. (We have a domain that ends in .edu, which spammers love). There's more about this here:
http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=32628
So - that's one reason we have the no-commercial links rule. If we didn't, it's likely that lots of spammers would flock to our site and add link upon link upon link. Believe it or not, the Scratch Team has limited resources (our funding comes from grants and donations), so we'd rather spend our energy on the next version of Scratch than dealing with tons of spam.

I think you mean "I wonder who SHE'S talking about". I'm a girl!
It's okay, a lot of people keep thinking I'm a boy.

Man, the Scratch team is cracking down on removing words from my post so that I sound like I should be scrubbing out my mouth!
I recently posted a comment where I used the "C" word, and not in a bad way, which is used in average children's programming, and it was removed.
I also said that I was mad about how the community was becoming full of quitters, and they removed 2 words and gave me a message to be respectful!
