UPDATE (As of 4/24/10) Changed the ground's look, and created a sort of demo for knocking over a person. New version online!!! http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Rodentboytest/1006551 enjoy!
UPDATE (As of 4/18/10) I got a new theme for the game, and I edited the scripts to make the trebuchet a bit better... I posted a topic about finding a physics engine - I hope things'll pick up soon!
UPDATE (As of 3/27/10) I have thought about it for awhile, and I think we actually can use people inside the castle. My idea is that when they are attacked, they simply hop out the castle and run away. Something like this- *Swing trebuchet* Clunk! A comical "Waugh!" noise, the character goes to front, falls until he's on the ground, run away. Simple!
Tell me if this would be a good idea!
I recently played Armorgames's Crush The Castle game made with flash, and I'm wanting to re-create it with Scratch.
I do not reccomend any users younger than 10 to look for Armorgames or play the real Crush the Castle, there are some games that aren't under Teen rating and Crush the Castle has some blood and human victims.
The way the actual Crush the Castle game works goes like this:
A castle, made out of wall and floor blocks, rooftops and other parts is set up on the right side of the screen. The blocks are either wood, brick, or metal. Set up around the castle are royal figures and knights. The "Camera" moves to the left side of the screen and shows the trebuchet (A medieval catapult-like contraption) filled with ammo of either little stones, medium stones, large stones, bombs, or three stones or bombs. You click once to have the trebuchet start swinging, and then click again to release the ammo. The projectiles then fly to the castle and knocks down some or all of the castle parts. If the characters are hit or crushed by ammo or a block, the blood comes in to play . The point is to kill all of the people inside
.
However, the way I want to re-create it is like this:
The castle parts would be the same, and maybe no camera scrolling. The people will jump out of the castle and run away to add to your score.
Creating this project will take a lot of help from people and a lot of physics and collision effects.
Stuff we need-
A trebuchet engine - (Have it!)
Beta testers - (Don't need just yet, and don't have.)
Physics for triangles, squares, and circles - (Desperately need!!!!!)
Music - (Have it!)
Sounds - (Still need some- Ropes stretching noise, stone, wood, grass, and metal collision noises, and comical screams of the castle inhabitants, which I will most likely do.)
Explosion effects - (Need it!)
This project could become amazing if enough people contribute. Thanks for listening!

Hey, maybe the Kingdom team can get back together! Ask Kileymiester.

Crush the castle?
I thought it was Castle Clout 2: Kill the king
The subtitle may be wrong but it's something like that.
We can help with the graphics

Hey, that game looks like it uses the popular box2d physics engine. Not sure how to recreate the physics on scratch so I would just try to make it simple and inaccurate.

No no no; that's another game. Crush the Castle is very similar but a bit less graphic.
And I'll look at the graphics, thanks!

Well, I'm looking for a person who'd know how to make those physics, but if there isn't anybody, I'll just make it inaccurate.

Kingdom team... never heard of it! I'll check it out, thanks.
Oh, they made the project, "The Kingdom"! Alright, I'll ask, thanks again!

It's gonna be pretty tough...
Definetly. But please try as hard as you can!

I'll try to make a trebuchet engine if you want!

Thanks! If you want inspiration, search armorgames and find Crush the Castle. But if you're younger than 10 (Which I'm guessing isn't true) you probably shouldn't. I'm guessing you're older than that (Well, I mean you made Pocket God and helped with The Kingdom- I don't think a 10 year old could do that), so you probably should go to armorgames. Thanks!!!

Well, I already asked someone else, but if they fail or whatever, I'll ask you. And I might even ask you anyway- because we probably will need backgrounds. Do you think you could make a good background that has a pathway on the bottom, but in the distance, a forest, and the sky? If you want to do that, try to make it as elaborate as possible. Thanks! Tell me if you'll do it, even though you're more into making pixel art.

I made the first draft of the trebuchet engine if you want to check it!

Great news! I edited Kileymeister's trebuchet engine and now have made the first version of Crush the Castle! There aren't any castle parts yet, just the trebuchet and the wide open sky, I'm afraid. Here's the link! http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Rodentboytest/952588

Once I'm done with GQ3 and if this idea is still going on, I'll help if I can.

OK, the physics engine is really hard to do...
UPDATE: I've half-done rotation about two corners... applying forces is gonna be even tougher, though.

We appreciate your hard work! I barely understand physics... better take that class next year! When you're finished with perhaps, part 1 of the physics engine, give the link- I really would want to see it when you're done!

We're making progress... we might be finished before GQ3 is! But if we aren't by the time you're done, we will appreciate the help!

Me too, but we can't re-create it with blood, you see.

UPDATE: Here is the 10%(ish)-done physics engine. Click and drag to move the box-thingy, but don't drag offscreen or it will get all messed up... not a glitch, just stupid drag coding on my part.
