Re: I am quitting scratch

What's wrong with being old in Scratch?

Exactly, none of us have heard of him.
I suppose I should say a few words.

"Good riddance!"

How was that?

Edit:
Why is this in show and tell?
For someone who thinks we care he's leaving, he
sure doesn't know the rules

When are you getting there?

Just joking  tongue
I'm older then you and I'm still here.
Of course, I don't really use Scratch at all, but I'm still a member of the community

Anyway, we're sad to see you go.

I don't think that's bad either... But maybe Louis wants to learn another language or something. I've tried Phyton once but I never bothered to learn it D:

So you're saying that his logic (or your logic) is that he is magically too old for scratch once he knows something better?

I know several programming languages, but I use scratch to sometimes make tutorials here and make quick game demos.

No, I think Louis might be quitting because he wants to learn another programming language. Still, he doesn't have to quit Scratch to learn another language...  hmm

Re: I am quitting scratch

maybe he's quitting because he just doesn't want to do scratch, that seems like the most obvious reason.

Re: I am quitting scratch

Actually I am leaving the forums soon. Its fully understandable that he wants to quit, he didn't sign any contracts and he can do as he pleases. And scratch the program is not age specific but the overall community is as it is apparent with all the animal projects on the frontpage.

Hi, I am Archmage coder extraordinaire. I do Scratch, pascal, java, php, html, AS2 and AS3. Leave me a message if you want coding advice. Also check out my personal website, lots of good stuff about web development, Flash, and Scratch (v1 and v2) !

Re: I am quitting scratch

I'm twice the age of most scratchers.  Scratch wasn't made for me, but I keep coming back.  It's a fun puzzle.  It's a huge challenge to create and manage a community like this.  I enjoy watching it grow and improve, and being a part of it.
It's the best when you figure something out while making a project and it inspires others to build off your ideas and make something cooler.

Good luck!

Re: I am quitting scratch

But-why? You don't have to quit completely- just have to reduce your time if you think it is taking up too much!

Re: I am quitting scratch

Scratch is like drugs
If you wanna quit, you have to do it slowly. You can't just stop taking Scratch because your body won't get used to the sudden change. It can lead to death.

Thanks, archmage, for participating in the forums as long as you have!  Your comments are always useful and often include links to projects or tutorials you've made.

So you're a good resource for the rest of us.

A question: do you know other programming languages?  Is any of them particularly good as a second one to learn alongside Scratch?

Thanks again for all the questions you've answered!   smile
