Cool OS Backrounds?

I need them to be orange, and no text please.

Don't ask what OS, it's SUPPOSED to be a surprize.

GIMP  big_smile  Plus my tablet (the world's worst tablet - guaranteed, or your money back  big_smile ) It's what I use for most requests.

Re: Cool OS Backrounds?

For the first two - pressure settings (only works with a tablet, but I'll explain anyway)

You click the little "+" sign in the brush/pencil tool, next to "brush dynamics". You should get some tick-boxes come up (You get 9 with the pencil, 12 with the brush) You can experiment with these tick-boxes (for those backgrounds, I used the pencil tool with "Pressure:Opacity" and "Pressure:Size" applied) - you can achieve a similar effect with the Velocity settings.

For the third one:

1. Click the "Filters" menu at the top of the window of the image you are editing.
2. Go down to "Light and Shadow" on the toolbar that pops up.
3. I used "Gradient Flare" for this effect, but here's a little guide as to what my favourite options do:

"Gradient Flare" - A variety of lighting, such as the "Distant Sun" (this was the option I used in the third background) "Bright Star" (A pretty little circle thing) and "Hidden Planet" (which creates a disc of light)

"Lens Flare" - Creates that effect that you get when you point a digital camera at the sun

"Lighting Effects" - Creates a strip of light, shades the rest (I used this one in BWOG's signature request)

"Sparkle" - it makes pwitty sparklies on the brightest areas :3

"Supernova" - a big, blue, shiny thing. It's pretty awesome  smile

There are more, but I don't use them much.

4. Play around with the sliders. You can make these effects bigger, smaller, brighter, dimmer, or pretty much any colour.

5. Hit OK

You can do other things with the filters - it's just a matter of playing with them  smile

EDIT: Sorry this took so long  smile
