I have decided to host my first ever contest!
The goal: wall jumping.
Here is the definition of wall jumping: the ability for a character to cling onto a wall, move slowly down, and be able to jump off. I have seen tons of great platformer projects, but not one with wall jumping. Wall jumping is one of the most prevalent concepts in a platformer, but it has never manifested itself in a Scratch project.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have decided to fix that.
I bring you all a challenge: create a game utilizing wall jumping. It must fit the definition above. No, Cube World's "climbing" is not allowed. The ability of a sprite to "stick" anywhere (ex: ceiling; floor not included) in the level is considered cheating and will automatically disqualify the entry. The entry can be an engine, a demo, or a game (BONUS if it's a game) utilizing the concept of wall jumping. The wall jumping MUST work with all walls in the game. The competitors must comment in this post to be considered for the contest. It would also be a bonus if 1) the entry is realistic and 2) the concept is extended. The top five entries will receive love-its on all of their creators' projects and a proposal for their contest entry to get featured. The five runnerups will receive a love-it on some of their projects. Remember: this isn't just for fun and fame. It's for a revolution in platformers! So what are you waiting for? Deadline is Apr. 3, 2010! (no longer Mar. 27, 2010) Start working!
UPDATE #1: Wall jumping must be animated. Also, remixes are NOT allowed.
UPDATE #2: Engines and demos are now permitted.

Where's the link?

What link? Oh, you expected me to do a project explaining the contest? I think this post is enough. Do you want to enter? It's open to all Scratchers.

I'll check it out! Nice Obama!

So this is a contest to make a project that a character has to jump a wall and get off in an animation process? If so, then I will join. If I cannot join, then I will tell my friends about it, risking spamming issues!

B-)

Great. Ohh, I forgot! Wall jumping has to be animated (clinging costume, jumping costumes, etc.)

BTW, the sprite has to be able to cling and slide down a wall as well, Moonlight.

Hello, anybody? This contest is open to all Scratchers. I'll extend the deadline if I have to.

Hmmm... This Is Interesting... I'd Like To See Some Entries. This Is A Good Contest, But I May Not Participate Because I Usually Have An Idea For A Project And Start Working On It... 2 Days Later, I Have A BETTER Idea And Completely Forget About The Project I Was Working On. (It's Concidered Lucky If A Project Ever Gets Uploaded Onto The Website That's From Me.) So I May Enter, I May Not. I Will Tell You If I Finish It. (If I Make The Project, It With It Will Be 10 Levels Long... If You Don't Mind.) Thanks.

Time to edit the old game engine I made but never released.

I'm Entering. I Already Got The Wall Jumping Engine Working, So I Just Need To Work On The Levels Now. Expect It In A Few Days!

All right, two entries! It is getting awfully close to the deadline, however. Scratchers, should I extend it?

Nothing can beat it.

Wait, does it need to be a game? Mine could be used as one, but I'm too lazy to make levels. It will be in a future game, though,

OK, I'll accept yours. UPDATE: I have decided to extend the contest for another week.

Good work, SeptimusHeap, but unfortunately your project is missing actual wall jumping: the stick looks more like he's falling off when I attempt to wall-jump. I would suggest more work. Good entry, though! Nice wall climbing.
Offline
Oops, looks like your stick CAN wall-jump. Contorl kinda awkward, though. Good job.

Sorry, waveosbeta, your entry is disqualified for not complying with the anti-"stick" (I'm not criticizing your sprite) rule. And where's the wall-jumping? Try again?

masterhand7, I Think waveOSbeta Is A Bit New To Scratch... He Only Has A Few Projects...

Sorry, GameMaster, his project doesn't fit within the rules. However, I'll give him another chance, TheGameMaster1231.

I Know It Doesn't. But I Didn't Mean To Say That You Should Bring Him Back In. I Just Wanted To Say That He Was New.

darn... why do i always find them just as they finish, or after they finish?
