It gets really annoying when someone has posted you a comment and you realize it was two days ago and you can't talk to them for another week or so.
Really there should be a 'online' sort of thing or something that tells you that one your friend are currently on Scratch or not!
Its just fustrating, I can understnd that Scratch is a worldwide website and there are the time diffrences but it does get on my nerves and I'm sure it gets on other members nerves too!
Just consider it, I will be greatfully happy if you do.

Messages posted on projects always say how long ago they were posted. If the message was posted 2 weeks ago, showing you if the person is on-line or not will not help, will it?
I think what would be nice is to show the date of the message also on the notifications page. Do you think that would help?

I mean take the website bebo for instance: Underneath the profile picture is says online if they are online and its just blank if they arent... If you dont get what I'm talking about then try this: http://www.bebo.com/Home.jspm

I am still not convinced knowing that someone is online will be very beneficial to the Scratch creation process. Could you tell me more about why you think it's important? And why you think people would want to use the Scratch website for that instead of other sites designed for chatting/instant messaging?
The main goal of the Scratch website is to be a place for you to share Scratch projects, learn from their code and leave comments to other creators. Websites like bebo, Facebook and MySpace are designed for sending and receiving messages and connect people. In fact that's pretty much all they do. And they do it very well.
Those websites don't focus on hosting videos like YouTube does. Or in hosting knowledge like Wikipedia.
In summary each site has its own goals. Web2.0 sites are more about mashing up different sites. That's why we added that button to post your project to Facebook for example.
What do you think?

Well sometime s one of the members wants to tell you something and you would want to reply to this asap but you might have not have been online when it was posted and eaither you get annoyed or the other user does and it would have been really inportant. And its serisouly annoying. And you may want to talk to one of your friends for a bit without 5 days delay! Its happend to me soooooo meny times and it does get really really really REALLY tedious!!!!

and somtimes this happens;
a user <say["I've created a new project that you must cheack out..." yadda yaddd yadda...
And you go to check it out and theres more than one of a simalar type and/or its a really really really old one by the time you've check and you can't tell which one it is!
Or;
they have said about the new project and by the time you've tried to find it, ITS DELETED!!!!
I'm sorry if I'm being persistant but it's not just me who would like this.
I know I'm being irrataing (can't spell sorry) but please, if someone did something about this I would be eternally greatful!

Tell someone something ASAP? Why don't you comment and see if they're there, and like andresmh, the whole point on scratch is to share projects, if you want to have a chat go on something made for it - like MSN or Meebo or Bebo or whatever.
I like the feature, but what's the point?

I agree with Andres and SonicPops. It just wouldn't be worth it. Just because someone is online or not means nothing for if/if not I should post on their project. If you want to chat get IM.

I would like that, but I look at my clock. Right now, no one's on because it's probably lunch, or a soccer game, or other sports activities like lacrosse.
