Scratch chess? Other ideas? AI?

I'm really interested in AI, I enjoy interacting with computers. Has anyone ever attempted to create Scratch chess? If so, where would I find this link?

I'm also looking for some beginner level AI programs to work on as projects. Anything involving AI that's simple but not so simple it's pointless. Whether it be two computers competing in a game or something else. I'd like to experiment with AI more.

Thanks in advance.
