Flagging spam comments as inappropriate

Sometimes I see some kind of spam comments, like "check out my project (link)" or "join my contest". I don't really like it(nobody does) and I use the "flag" button to take it away.

Is that good or bad? Or maybe the Scratch Team should add a "spam" button?

Re: Flagging spam comments as inappropriate

I see spam A LOT.

I'm just scared to death to flag a comment as inappropriate when it's only spam.

Exactly how I feel.  tongue

Spam bugs me... but the button says "flag as inappropriate", so I leave it and instead tell the user that spamming isn't a good thing to do.

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Me three. Maybe when you flag a comment when the moderator sees it and takes care of it, they send you a message? Like if you flagged something that was inappropriate then it says something like:
"Thank you for flagging a comment on [Name of project]. It has been taken care of. Thanks, and Scratch on!"
And if it wasn't inappropriate then it would say:
"Thank you for flagging a comment on [Name of project], but it wasn't inappropriate. Please see the [Link to some page] to see what is and isn't inappropriate. Thanks, and Scratch on!"

Re: Flagging spam comments as inappropriate

'Twas but a suggestion.

People say, "Don't want to spam, but: (link) ", which gets me really steamed up...

But you are allowed to use the "report" button on the forums for spam, right?

Re: Flagging spam comments as inappropriate

I just flag it. It'd be good if you could give a reason for the flag, like in the forums.
