Obsolete Blocks

In the next version of Scratch, you shouldn't have to activate the obsolete blocks. They should be there to start with. Also, I have created a new block that lets a sprite detect other sprites within a set radius around it. The block is called scan, and is in the sensing area. Also, there will be a set range and change range to tell how far it can detect, wich will be useful in some types of games.

Re: Obsolete Blocks

Those blocks weren't included in Scratch for a reason... but maybe some of them will make it into the next release.  smile
If they don't, you can always take the time to activate them...

Re: Obsolete Blocks

What do you mean, "shouldn't have to activate the obsolete blocks"? That'd be bringing back the blocks - they were removed for a reason.

I don't know how to activate them. That's my problem.

Never mind. That was a long time ago. I know how to do it with the <distance to[ block.

Re: Obsolete Blocks

Obsolete blocks were removed for a reason, as Chrischb said - they generally didn't have much of a use in Scratch. Rarely will you come across an obsolete block: they're generally hidden in the depths of scripts, and even more rarely will you actually have to use them. So I think that if you feel the need to use them, it's well worth a trip into the depths of Scratch's code; but we're better off without wasting precious block space with redundant blocks.

Re: Obsolete Blocks

Just last month i made a project with them. Its true there not so helpfull. It makes you not be able to use or do something online. You would have to download the project for them to work. also can someone help me connect this together. <say[  ]for(  )secs> and <pick random(  )to(  I want to put words in there so it would say words at random times.

Some of them have no reason including but not limited to saturation.

This is the same as writing:

if <(distance to [Sprite1 v]) < [n]>
do this
EDIT: Restored with new blocks.

Re: Obsolete Blocks

The obsolete blocks were removed for a reason. They didn't work well online, and some of them like the

 say nothing
block really had no use. Most of the obsolete blocks can be achieved with variables and/or other blocks.  wink
