Lately, I have seen people quit and people say things like "We don't care!" or "OMG NO PLZ DONT GO OMG!!!!" but the things that REALLY bothers me is that some 07'ers do it, and then they wonder why Scratch isn't as friendly as it used to be and they blame it on the other people who joined in other years! Well, I can't take it anymore. I am making a guide to help people know what to do when someone is quitting. Please put a link to this in your signature or something. We need to spread the word for the sake of Scratch!
Step 1: Do not ignore it.
It could be an actual attempt to quit. And even if it isn't, you should play along. Sure, you shouldn't reward the person for quitting, but you should ask them not to quit.
Step 2: Don't be sarcastic/mean.
If a person is quitting for real, it will make them want to quit more. If a person ISN'T quitting for real, it will encourage them to do so for real.
Step 3: Ask them to stay.
"It's a shame to have such a great scratcher like you quit," "I'm sorry that you've made this decision to quit scratch. If you change your mind, we won't hold it against you," "Oh well, I'm sure you have a good reason for quitting. Maybe you've just moved on from scratch, and "Gosh, cyberbullies really were mean to you? Use the 'Contact Us' button at the bottom of the screen to report cyberbullies or click the 'Flag as Inappropriate' button on comments. If it's on the forums, click the 'Report' button. Hope this helps ," are all great things you can say to someone who is quitting. Don't lie, though. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it.
I truly hope this helps get Scratch back on track.
Thanks for reading and Scratch On!

The main reason is that all these stupid popularity-seeking people(not anyone in particular) quit again and again to gain popularity. Someone said "Yay! I got the front page!" which made me really steamed up.
I don't care if it is for real or fake, I just say, goodbye. Because no one should make a dramatic I QUIT project and say it is not a publicity stunt.
You know you believe me.

I agree, people shouldn't make dramatic quit projects. In fact, they shouldn't quit at all. Which is why I made this topic.

Well, if a publicity stunt is fake, it will encourage the person to leave if people make mean comments. But, the person will stay if there are nice comments. BUT, how can you really tell if a publicity stunt is real or not? It's better to be safe then sorry.

To be honest I don't really care. If someone quits I love doing this
as we see one more scratcher go,
he/she might go to alice or to and fro
even though you may think this is spam
goodbye and don't forget your ham
Nobody can top that on goodbyes.
To be honest, nobody needs a guide on how to say goodbye. Just respect their decision.

...I honestly disagree. If a person says they are leaving, they know the consequences, so if they come back, there's no reason we shouldn't hold it against them. Telling them that there is the contact us and report and flag as inappropriate buttons are fine, but we also do have the right to say "I don't care!" because it's true, and people who are leaving who read our comments need to grow up and ignore the comments, and don't reply by saying "Wow you're so mean!"

True, but...be nice. Be nice, be kind, be honest, be forgiving, be caring.

Exactly. Thank you. The point of this guide is to show that just because it will "help" people in life or just state the truth for fun doesn't mean that it's nice and doesn't mean that it will make people not quit.

It doesn't really concern me if anyone is quitting. I don't really much know anyone on the site.

In all honesty, I think Scratch is improved when those drama queens quit.

Agreed. Apart from when they come back.
And I have a feeling that this is gonna cause a flame war soon...
