Re: A Scratcher's Guide to Playing SSBB Decently

Firstly, if you play online anonymously, don't. Playing anonymously won't make you better because it doesn't go by tourney rules and its a free for all.

If you want to play online, find friends with allisbrawl.com's friend finding chatroom.

Generally I consider anything from D tier of better decent enough to win with and mario is in the F tier. Mario is bad because everything he has below average power and poor range and no other useful attributes. Pikachu or Marth would be a good replacement.

Diddy and Wario are more specialized characters so its unlikely that you will be able to use them properly. Diddy is all about using his bananas and Wario uses his powerful attacks and massive horizontal aerial movement.

More importantly, is how you play. Do you use any of the bad habits I listed? If you do then work on using better habits.

Re: A Scratcher's Guide to Playing SSBB Decently

For toon link, take advantage of his ability to jump high and use that awesome attack after you use the side smash attack by pressing the regular attack button and side control stick right after. I have many of the good habits you described, but I often use down A, side A, and up B, so I'm pretty predictable. Actually, using the stage gimmicks is good as long as you don't depend too heavily on them
