Hello Scratch Community,
My name is Emily and I am the newest member of the Scratch team. I’ll be working with the team to develop new features for the website to make everyone’s experiences better.
As I get my feet wet, I’ll be exploring your existing projects as well as creating some of my own. I invite you to point me towards your projects, favorite galleries, and anything else I might find interesting as I get to know everyone.
Feel free to send me a message; I’d love to hear from you!
Emily

Hello! I'm very interested in the Scratch Team news, so thanks for saying that you joined!
My projects can all be found here:
http://scratch.mit.edu/users/coolstuff/
I just added a Runner 2 project, a sequel to one of my other projects, Runner. I also got a featured project, Blitz (my first ever project), and the sequel to that is there, too.
I really like making sequels, incase you haven't noticed!
Anyways, just wanted to say "Welcome" (not that I'm part of the team). Hopefully you'll be a great addition!

Hello Emily, welcome to the wonderful world of Scratch!
If you are going to be working on the website, maybe I can lobby you for an enhancement that I think would benefit the entire community. I think it would be amazingly great if we had the ability to include links to Galleries inside other Galleries. With that one feature we could build much more meaningful collections of projects. This would be a great aid for people trying to learn Scratch as well as those trying to find useful Scratch projects for entertainment or educational purposes.
With the current single-level Galleries, they quickly become filled to the point where they are very awkward if not impossible to use efficiently. If you look at kevin_karplus's Math Projects gallery, it currently has over 250 projects. That amount of projects means you will spend a lot of time flipping through web pages looking for projects on a specific topic. Imagine instead, a Math Projects gallery where the first level contains only two links: "By Grade Level" and "By Topic". Under "By Topic" you might see 10 or 12 topics such as "Base Conversion" "Curve Plotting" "Educational Drills" and so on. Hopefully, you can see how this would improve access to the incredible number of great projects available on Scratch and greatly enhance Scratch as an educational resource.
Please give it some consideration. Thanks.

Hi, Emily. I second what Paddle2See says. For example, there is currently an attempt underway to organize various GUI widgets, but it is of course impossible to categorize them (e.g., as text entry, number entry, radio controls, checkboxes, etc.), so the resulting gallery is unstructured and not quite as useful as it should be to young scratchers.

Hello, and welcome to Scratch!
I just joined about 2 weeks ago and have already made some friends here. Hopefully you can to.
My projects are all listed here --> http://scratch.mit.edu/users/Bobby500
The best one is the Super Smash bros Scratch, although it is only playable if you download it.
Anyway, hope you have a good time working here.
P.S. What is the difference between the Scratch Team and a ScratchR?

Hey, thanks for welcoming Emily :-)
Bobby500: ScratchR is just the name of the software that we created to run the website, when I created my account I set it up as ScratchR but in reality there is nothing more to it. I should rename it to Scratch Team :-)

Hi Emily. The scratch site deifienlty could use some work especially in the organization of projects. It would be nice if you could find specific types of project more easily so implementing something like what paddle2see mentioned would be a good idea in my opinion.

Ola! I can't speak spanish... Anyway, welcome. There are great projects here. I think the only improvement Scratch needs is the login time (staying logged in). I get logged out about 15 times during 1 hour!

Hi Emily, welcome! it's certainly nice to see a new name in the Scratch Team. I'm very much in favor of Paddle2See's suggestion (organizable galleries). Otherwise I believe Scratch and the website are doing just fine.

Hello again Emily! I want to apologize for dumping my pet peave on you (organizable galleries, as Jens so elegantly put it) on your first posting. In retrospect, that might have been just a tad pushy. I understand that you may well have other priorities set by the Scratch Team (maybe the Screened Content Scratch Site?). But it would be interesting to hear what you think of the idea and/or what you will be working on, if you care to share that information.
Many thanks to all of you Scratchers (chalkmarrow, archmage, Jens) who support my suggestion.

Hello Emily! It's great to meet you! I am sure you will be a great help to the Scratch Team and us, members of the Scratch Community.
I support Paddle2See's idea of organizable galleries. It would really help in cleaning up them galleries! ^^
Anyways, wish you luck, Emily!

Yeah i like that idea Paddle2see, the members of my Harry Potter and the Deathly Gallery get a bit mad when someone dumps all of there non themed projects and then i have to organize it all again

Hello,
I hope you will enjoy working on the Scratch website!
As Paddle2see said, we don't know if you have a "task" inside the Scratch team, but new people means new ideas! The best way to improve the website might be using it, and changing what's wrong...
Of course, the Suggestions forum is a nice place to be too ...

No worries!
We are always open to user suggestions, and I am interested in your feedback, that's why I asked

Any specific features you are looking for to help organize? What have been some of your challenges with the current implementation??

I don't have any active themed galleries, most of them I use as chatrooms (Crank Inc.). Although I have a few galleries that need some "cleaning up". As Paddle2See suggested, it would be nice if we could be able to sort out the projects in the galleries, in order to have easier access to them. Apart from that, I don't seem to have any problems with my galleries, or I am just so used to the current system that I don't see them.
