Scratch's VERY  FIRST V.S.S ( Virtual saving System ), That will be thoroughly described In how it will be used with the game, and how you can save, exit scratch, re-open & continue where you left off.  cool  I know alot of people want to know how that works. But the scratch Team should know it's possible, If You can master the Variables and Broadcasting To the T.

This is nonsense. The only possible way to save your data in scratch (not including passwords) is to manually press the save button on the scratch program. Mastery of variables and broadcasts will not help you save data as it is just another capability that scratch lacks.

It would be great if someone from the scratch team can confirm what I just typed out and possibly add a thread to the FAQ section of the forums about saving because it appears to pop up a lot.

Oh, I just assumed that your project would be played online. It's just that most people will probally not want to download it because it is less convenient than just viewing it in a web browser.

I agree with archmage. I mean I never save my game on the scratch program just so I can play at that point later. But honestly, if I can, I usually download the game because their all laggy online. So don't say "Don't make your stupidy a habit" to archmage, really, tell that to yourself. Honestly Tsumami_Enterprises, use your common sence, that way you'll not get so many arguements, and you don't have to waste 5 minutes. Every second counts.

Also its Stupidity not Stupidy. But why do I really have to mention. . . .

Re: Launch Day - The Countdown Has Begun

Lucario621, What I said to Archmage, The same applies to you.  It might be best If you stay out of their circle of Critisizm. Stupidity Is correct In vocabulary, You're right about that, But why don't you Stamp "Stupid" on your forehead, It would probably brighten up your face...

But I didn't make this thread to argue. Archmage, If you & your band of Ignorate Fools Want to see everything that I've promised at Full-Speed, You'll have no choice but to download. However, I will be releasing two versions of the game. One will be compatible to play using This websites 'online Player', The other will require download only, Because It won't be stripped of anything, And will feature all music composition, all Sprites will be present, Some V/O. The only consequence is it'll round up to about 40mb. ( don't complain & whine, you don't like that, just don't say anything about it...) But it will be optimized, running full speed in the "full Screen" view in the scratch program. The 'online Player' version will be considerably cut of features, Especially The "SAVE" feature that all of you are getting hyper about. So you decide which version you want to play, Both versions, however, will have a complete storyline.

In other aspects, My saving feature works like this:

At a certian place in the level, there will be an Orb, Once you touch it, you can save. Once Saved, You have to save the program itself. Once done, you can resume by clicking the green flag, or exit scratch and continue it another time. It's a long game, so I think it's worth returning to after dinner, but hey, That's just me. The load feature, will start you at the orb, or wherever your character was....STAY TUNED and see for yourself..

LAUNCH DAY IS ONLY  39 DAYS AWAY...  COMING SOON!

I am pretty sure that few people are going to leave this site just to play a scratch game... Also some of the users are not very old and might accidentally find something that might not be very suitable for someone under 18 or at least under 14...

Also I like to make games that can actually be PLAYED with out downloading. There are ways to do things that have less lag and are playable online... For one example, scrolling games, MOST of these games are very laggy online or are not playable at all. But my random terrain generator is actually higher performing online than in the editor. Thats just my view on things...

actully, there can be a variable that is zero when you share it, so it will be zero whever you open the game, so you can do that.

Re: Launch Day - The Countdown Has Begun

saving a game isn't truly possible, what your saying is an impossible way to save is just making it so the variables don't reset when the green flag is clicked, a true save on a game is where a file is made on your computer, this is impossible for the scratch to even have because scratch is both flash and computer games

just a suggestion for the future is to never say "this is the first!" %95 of the time it isn't, your game looks good, but I don't know, plus I"m expecting you to encounter a problem at the end of production... file size overload! I've done something exactly like this, I advertised and the game would have 16 levels, 3 bosses, 128 platform designs, and lots more, but it was way over 10MB, stick to small games, trust me it's best that way

Scratch doesn't make flash games. The online games run in an applet.

And I don't understand your logic. Flash can make savefiles. The reason scratch can't is because there is no save command.

You haven't gotten what I meant when I said V.S.S ( VIRTUAL saving system) Or in otherwords, a simulation, mockery of the actual thing... ( deep breath) Hey, but whatever, You're making sense though, DingDong. You calmly explain things to me, Unlike Coolstuff & heybrian, And they wonder why i'm so violent toward them... take a guess.. Coolstuff, You talk about my game, you talk about me. Period. And treating you like mud?...Well..

Anyway, Gandolf, You were the Ignorate one! Posting a comment on my projects firmly saying that you were going to use my sounds without any means of asking permission, added to Calling my game " Cruddy" before it even came out... Re-evaluate yourself.

Funkeymonkey, The way things are going, I'd rather not give my I.D at all, things are as crazy as it is. And I don't want my real profile getting flammed like this one.

About the saving thing. Fellas, it's not a big deal.Really. It's a simulation. You can save the data to the desktop, but It will be saved as A sprite. Get the Idea?  I'm not  going to do the impossibe gentlemen, I'm going to do the hidden possibilities...
Because You all are limited to your knowledge of the program, you're not willing to accept something that you've never seen possible with it. I'm actually no longer working on the project, i'm just overseeing, it, A friend of mine ( not part of the Enterprise) has been working on it the passed week, He's done the storyline and the art. I just have to upload it. He recently signed up, His name is The_Darkness. Add him.

Dastyruck, I'm only guessing that you will have to download, usually games that are above 6mb requires downloading because it never loads, i'll try to figure something out.

I hope all of your questions can be answered on LAUNCH DAY, and if not, as in some of you think the game was a let down big time, I'm sorry. I can't please everyone, I can't make a game EVERYONE will like, and I know I said this will be the best scratch game to Drop, In all Reality, it's up to every individual who plays the game to decide that.

And Dingdong, You're saying or inferring that this isn't the first V.S.S. Someone earlier in this thread said that as well. But if this wasn't the first V.S.S, everyone wouldn't be flamming me about it's impossibilty, since someone did already right?

I want LAUNCH DAY to be a success, not a disaster, so please every just wait 39 more days.
