Help with physics-based game??

I'm starting a new project, and I want to utilize physics in it. However, I need a gameplay concept for my project. Any ideas??
(Mods, if this belongs in Inspiration and more, feel free to move it.)

Hm... They can get complex! Do you help with the physics part?

Re: Help with physics-based game??

http://www.myphysicslab.com/ can give some helpful information on Physics formulae. I should really make something with it - but I don't understand some of the equations. ^^'

Re: Help with physics-based game??

I need help with thinking up a gameplay concept, not with the physics.

Actually, I was sort of thinking about a puzzle platformer.

Boo on physics. They're useless anyhow.

Yeah, without 'em we could walk through walls!

But we'd also float off the planet and die...

Without physics your computer wouldn't work.

Re: Help with physics-based game??

Can somebody think up an actual gameplay concept, instead of complaining about physic's restraints? If you want physics to be different, transform yourself into Wile E. Coyote. You'll be grateful for real physics. Now think up a REAL gameplay concept!

Without physics your computer wouldn't work.

If by that you mean gravity holding the computer down and not letting it fly off into space, you're almost correct.

@Masterhand: That's a great idea! A roadrunner game.

Re: Help with physics-based game??

Maybe I'll do a game where you have to activate switches using the laws of physics, and the switches would cause something.

Re: Help with physics-based game??

Yeah, I think some puzzles that should be solved with physics would be good.

Or maybe a puzzle game where you have to change physics using switches and stuff, to solve each puzzle. Here's an idea for a level:

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3137/gravitygamelevel.png

That level is easy to solve - just press both red switches and then go to the door. Would be good for the first level, maybe as part of a tutorial  smile

Re: Help with physics-based game??

I got an idea for my game now. (BTW, I'm doing this for a differentiated project in science class.) I'll call it PUSH. (Is there already a game like that?) The object of the game is to use your...uh, pushing powers to push things to activate switches, and physics will be used for the pushing+gravity. Only question I have left is, how can I simulate the movement of the objects realistically? Just using gravity won't be enough. Maybe I should research some movement equations.

If you want a realistic game that's the best thing to do  smile
