Re: Rome Total War anyone?

what nation are you? I like to play as scorpii (red roman faction)
assuming you are a roman faction then..

-Stratigic Level

-make sure you are at peace with the other roman families.

-Have a good industrial base (like advanced cities, lots of money ect. ect.)

-You are only at war with at most 2 factions, and preferably they aren't allies. (you don't want a 2 front war.)

-You have multiple large armies so you can 1 either reinforce other armies, 2 divide THEIR armies, and maybe catch a few cities/armies by surprise, and maybe in with small garrison/ or force.

-I don't know about you, but I like to save before I make a major move (like declariong war or making an assault.

-Tactical Level

-Have well balanced armies, with Calvary, infantry, archers, and siege engines (I don't like waiting to make siege engines, they take so LONNGGGGG)

-Make sure at least 60% of your army is melee line infantry, so that these units hold the line while your cavalry or specialized perform flanking movements.

-Never just charge with all your men, that is stupid.

-When facing hoplites, its best to have your army spread out, so they will have to be spread out so A. if you don't have enough men

-Attack! the enemy A.I. will be less aggressive, and it is easier to perform flanking movements.

-Always make sure your unit's flanks are covered. This is the easiest way units will die

-Whenever you order your cavalry to charge make sure they are supported by line infantry, cavalry aren't meant for prolonged engagements, so if they are attacking infantry, or other other cavalry they should be supported, otherwise they will be cut up, or suffer heavy casualties. this does not apply to archers, fleeing units, or siege engines.

hope that helped!

Re: Rome Total War anyone?

It looks fun with all the units at one time.

Re: Rome Total War anyone?

I have Empire total war XD

anyway, make sure you don't attack enemies with archers (ranged units), when melee infantry are attacking them (the archers will hit your units as well)

Also, if you have elephants (playing a faction that has elephants) make sure to keep an eye on them, if they route, they charge anywhere, which means they could slaughter your army (if that happens, select them, and choose the kill button, to stop them)

My friend had that happen XD (except the elephants slaughtered his allies army instead)
