Well, I hope nobody is here just because of signature. If we all participate in discussions, share ideas, ask questions and help others we will have many posts and will get two things: contribution to the forum and our signature.

I think that the amount of posts needed for a sig should be reduced to 10 to prevent spaming. I mean 50 posts is quite a lot.

Some people were trying to use the forum signatures to advertise for commercial sites, and other not Scratch-related things.
Since signatures cannot be flagged as inappropriate, and are not marked as "new" when they are updated, it was very hard for the moderators to delete every inappropriate signature.
From now, you can only post a signature if you have more then 50 posts on the forums.
We think spammers will not put in the effort to post more then 50 posts, without really joining the community.
Once you reached 50 posts (And you want a signature), do the following to create it:MyRedNeptune wrote:
In the Forums, click on "Profile" at the top, then "Personality" and fill in the signature box there. Once you're done, hit "Submit".
If you have any questions, feel free to ask
Scratch on!

What if you just want to link to cute adoptables on other, non-scratch-related sites?

Hi Caseycatjasper, clickable images such as adoptables, dragon eggs, and other related sites are, for the most part, generally acceptable in signatures since they are usually just for fun and not for advertisement and commercial profit.

I'm a bit confused here- Are we still aloud to advertise for our own projects in the signatures?

Yeah, you can advertise projects/galleries in your signature. I think the no advertising thing is just if it's an advertisement for a company or something like that. Hope this helps

Not anymore.
Anyways, the least seconds for a spammer to get his signature is 3,000.

How do you add an image to my signature?

Paddle2See,
As I found out on scratch resources, most spammers don't mind to wait. They just create an account, and one month later they start spamming. I am afraid that this solution won't solve the problem we had...
Sometimes I think there are websites where spammers share url's, I had a spamming hype on Scratch Resources for a long time, I put the maintenance mode on for two weeks and the spammers where gone...Thanks for the information, I was not aware of that. So a time limit may not solve the problem. However, this new "solution" has just created another problem - namely a large number of useless posts that clog up the forums. I think the cure is worse than the sickness!
Maybe the right to have a signature should be something that is only granted by an Administrator or a Forum Moderator. I would rather spend a few seconds evaluating a user than spending minutes and minutes reading useless posts. Of course, I have no idea if that option is even available in the forum software we are currently using. But I do think other solutions should be explored.
I never knew this!

Scratch is so protected from spammers. Like with the 60-second rule to help prevent spammers that everyone complains about.
