Browsing through the forums during my one hour break in the library, two forum newcomers caught my eye, so I decided to check their posts out. Sadly they were commercial spammers.
Scratchers commented on them saying [to the commercial spammers] they shouldn't spam. Ironically the spammers' comments were never flagged for moderator inspection.
It just makes me a bit worried that commercial spammers might be able to get away with posting unwanted commercial spam because Scratchers are commenting on them instead of flagging the comments down.

I flag them.
I'm a good boy.

*Pats RHY on the head* I've noticed alot of people commenting instead of flagging as well. Maybe you should put up a sticky telling Scratchers to flag inappropriate comments or spam?

It would be nice if you could sticky one post in all the forums at once...otherwise we will need separate posts for each forum.
Or...we could change the name of the forums (at the top of the page) from "Scratch Forums" to "Scratch Forums - Please use the Report link on spam posts".
And thank you RHY3756547 and all the other helpful Scratcher's that are already Reporting spammers

Perhaps there could be some sort of incentive for each rightful report (something that helps the moderators to find spam/bullying/etc topics, not "Can you close my thread?", etc).
I'm not sure 100% how it would work, but each correct report could give a person a "point". Then points could be redeemed for something - the ability to have an image in your signature or to show/hide your post count, for example (The forum could automatically hide post counts, so that only users who have been consistently helpful could "compete" for the highest post count). It's not a fully fledged idea yet, but it might work

There's a couple flaws with that idea. #1 is that it would be unfair for users that get little time on the internet, and #2 is that I don't think hiding post counts for indivisuals is possible with the forum.

It might have been me that didn't flag. Not sure. Well I was telling someone not to, but I forgot to flag. But it may have been a whole other person.

Not sure exactly...usually 3-4 a day, I'd guess.

Really? That is a lot. I didn't know that many people would do that kind of thing.

It happens a lot.
The TBG has never been attacked, by what I remember...
But I report them.

One thing to straighten out, a report does not immediately say that the user has been behaving missaproppriately, it's for anything that needs to be changed about a topic.

Wait, what do you mean by that?

I've seen [removed] say on her signature that she spams, should I report her page on asking if people like her new signature? I'm asking you because I know you'd know the answer. Thanks!

Perhaps you could put that message on the top of each page on the forums?

If you see repeated spam posts from somebody, you can Report them to the Moderators and they will follow up on the issue. Spamming forum topics is a rude thing to do - if somebody does it repeatedly we will ask them to stop. It it continues, it could lead to a block on their account.
What cheddargirl is talking about here, though, is Commercial spammers - people trying to advertise products on Scratch. We block them without any warning.

I see now, thank you very much for the explanation

That was a joke, I normally don't spam!
Well, I DO spam sometimes, but not usually on Scratch. I spam on my brother's forum a lot, just to annoy him.
