I think scratch should be used in schools. It could be used as an elective or a subject. PLEASE REPLY!!
Hi mini2000 - I agree with you...and you'll be happy to know that it is being used in many schools. It's even being used by some College classes to introduce programming concepts. Of course, it would be great if it were being used in more schools - be sure and show it to all your teachers
By the way, I'm going to move this over to the All About Scratch forum for you. Thanks for your enthusiasm.

Yes. I showed Scratch to my teacher, and we're going to use a Scratch project I made in the class! Scratch is GREAT if you have a Smart Board. It's fun and nice, so I hope it will become more popular that way.

Yes, like Paddle said, scratch is still in many schools.
We use them in my school very early and that is actually how I found out about scratch. My teacher shows us cool tricks and programming tips.(even though I know most of therm )

Some schools already have scratch (including mine )
Ask your Computer person and indroduce him to it. It is actually a very good way for children to learn

I'm trying to persuade my computer lab teacher to install Scratch on all 100 computers.

My school has scratch on the computers. I asked my science teacher if we would use it, and we will!

My school uses Scratch all the time. Right now we are using it to put on a presentation about a bird we picked. I am finished so I will upload it to the site as soon as I can.

My school doesn't really use scratch a lot,but they do sometimes. Our gifted teacher made us use scratch once to make a mythology animation, and i've seen several kids in my school use scratch over powerpoint.

My school has scratch, but they dont use it as a class room aid, though i wish they did, I have actualy taught some of my class mates and people my age how to use it.

Scratch is used in my school but they only teach it once a year, and my grade only learns about these blocks:
...
<when green flag clicked><wait( )secsc><when[ ]key pressed><if><key[ ]pressed?><point towards( <glide( )secs to x )y
<move( )steps>
Do you see why I will be annoyed? (hint: look at my projects)
And 8th grade only learns the basics of velocity and variables.

I get an IT class every few days.
And in IT it's either a stupid project or one lesson about scratch.

That does sound boring... It's plain old English! it's not hard to understand! In my IT class we make web sites in flash!
