This is my opinion (sorry if I have posted it before. It's been a while)
A completly easy stupid game where you just keep scrolling and attacking using a one hit motion where the enemies disappear is fine. It could of been transported to alien world for all we know.
A game like SSBB is an Ok game for me. No cuts just a "ahhhh" and a "ohhh" and a "yay"!
Left for dead... I think you can guess what i'm going to say so there's no need to say it.

Stop blood and gore? Ok. *switches off blood and gore*
The human race will cease to exist. We need blood to live. Stop blood and gore in games? Ok. *switches off blood and gore in games*. Game companies go bankrupt. Nobody likes a FPS without blood. See why this won't happen yet?
Some people just don't make sense.
Oh yeah and last one: *switches off blood and gore in scratch games* People quit.

At the moment, I am creating an RPG game... it'll take a while, but I'll hope it'll be good.
However, there is fighting in it, as most RPG games do. But I'm trying to make it so that there is no blood and the bad guy only gets his soul locked up for a long time. There will be violence, though, but it is only against weird monsters.
So I think that making games without that much violence and no blood can be done with Scratch, yet many corrupt/semi-corrupt users create projects with human victims, blood, and lots and lots of violence.
Perhaps they do it because it's an outlet for their evil, gore-loving side? Or is it just because of the appeal of blood and violence? (I don't see what's so appealing about blood, but I understand the violence bit.)
If you need an outlet for violence, take it out in a violent video game, not a Scratch project.
Scratch is mainly made for 3rd-8th graders, but there are older users who want to make or play more age-appropiate games. Scratch is not the best program to make "Teen" or "Mature" games. People who want bloody, violent games should find a different site or play actual video games with the ratings I just mentioned.
Last thing: Scratch is supposed to introduce people to programming language. Once you think you're good enough to make violent, bloody ones, you should buy Flash or start trying C++.
Well, that's my position, anyway. Maybe we could stop the creation of gore-y Scratch projects by still being able to flag projects, and perhaps once a month, the Scratch creators could choose a select number of Scratchers who'd like to search around for bad projects and flag them.
Thanks for listening.

Yeah exactly- thats why I'm crazed with ssbb.

Again, a lot of people seem to be taking everything too seriously.
You can have killing in your game.
You can have violence.
You can have some blood.
What you can't have is excessively bloody games (when it comes to violence).

I have been using and promoting Scratch as a way to introduce students in grades 3 through 5. We have enjoyed what we've done very much, and the students and I have learned a lot with lots more to learn. We've always had these rules: #1. No human victims, #2. Nothing violent. And now my students have shown me Scratch programs like this one:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Comcastc99/71491
Can anything be done to clean up Scratch, or should I abandon its use at our school and block the site? If I'm the only one who thinks this type of violence is inappropriate then that's what I'll have to do. It's been fun while it lasted, however. I've got students watching the Naruto Christmas Special over and over again.

I think some people use video game violence as an outlet for anger. I know if I didn't have break time to slash up some monsters with a sword in a good game of zelda to vent out frustration, I would go crazy and probably violent! I think playing something like Halo doesn't make you as violent as knowing all your friends play it and that they mock you behind your back because you don't.
You know, I don't actually mind being mocked behind my back because I'm not virtually killing people!

I don't think the censoring works with "Newest Projects", as I just saw a project labeled [project name removed by moderator] with blood and a human victim.
[Note by moderator: Please do not use the Scratch Forums to publicly report projects that you feel are inappropriate - it is better to flag the projects instead. ]

If it's an inappropriate project, chances are that the project is so new that is has not been flagged yet by anyone. if you think it's inappropriate, feel free to flag it (and remember to give a reason) so that the Scratch team can take a look at it and take the appropriate action.

I would like the Scratch Team to fix the problem with the server about the messages not deleting when I delete them, and not seeing the comments that I get on the project. Please fix. Please reply.
PS. how do you reply to a post and how do you get a signature?

My personal opinion is that using blood/gore in a game is a way of saying the game has no real content. Its like a comedian who is only funny when they spew profanity. If your game is good, it doesn't need blood/gore for "shock" value. If a comedian is funny he doesn't need profanity.
That being said, I realize there is a market for games with Blood/Gore because it appeals to the lowest common denominator, basic animal instinct. Humans are the highest creature on the food chain because we have the capacity for controlling our killer instincts. That is why we thrive as a race, not because we are the strongest, or fastest, or even smartest, but because we are the most in control of ourselves. But there will always be someone who is not as controlled as the rest. Intelligence doesn't make you more in control (see also: Ft. Hood shooter). Wisdom puts you in control. Some of us are more wise than others, and nothing can be done that.
If you are against Blood/Gore in video games, don't put blood/gore in your games. Make the greatest game ever without it, then others will follow suit, because the market will demand it (see also: Super Mario, Guitar Hero, etc.)
Just my 2 cents, take it for what it is...

(i am not a adult) You could enforce strict punishment on people who go on those kind of projects. thats what my school does.
But how would they know how "bad" it is before they click and watch?
And if the school doesn't want people going there, how do they control what happens at home?
And that project isn't that bad...

That stuff is just a fact of life. No better way to put it. You just have to find a way to deal with it.

I agree. Sword fighting games? Those are... unrealistic... and lego.com tries to be appropriate. And (random) example: Goomba stomping - try doing that, you'll pull a leg muscle. Sometimes, "Cartoon Violence" is to keep people from really doing violence. But games without blood are scary to - one of the Resident Evil designers says that he makes gory games because otherwise, a guy getting sliced in half and not bleeding could lead to a misconception that doing an unspeakable act will not cause much pain. There's no perfect way out, unfortunately.I agree. no offesnse, rico, but you obviously have problems, if you have to ban a site because of a few games with cartoon violence. as i've noticed, adults are always overprotective when it comes to violence. seriously, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is very non-violent, but somehow it got rated teen. and on scratch, blood is basicly nothing more than red stuff created in the paint editor.
I was wondering about Brawl. I was about to get it, but then I noticed the rating. I guess it's just the fighting itself, but still... good luck trying to pull a Final Smash on a jerk who shoves you over a fence.
tHE BRAWL T IS BECAUSE OF ALOT OF EXPLOSIONS. yEAH, WEIRD.

While we're at it, let's replace all profanity with "Golly".
' "Golly! My brother was just shot!" *Starts crying* '
Medic - "I don't see any wound"
"That's because there's no blood or gore!"
Medic - "Um, I'm just gonna... Back away..."
My point being that there's a time and place for everything, and most scratch games can do without it.

If you have those three rules, I would suggest banning computers and internet altogether. We all try to hide from these things, but you can't be young and innocent forever... violence... is something we can't hide from. I don't get what you mean by no human victims. Killing aliens is still violent. Also, mindless? Isn't it OK to be a little crazy sometimes? Also, you never mentioned blood. Blood does not always go along with violence. There could be a project with someone who os injured in it. That could have blood too. You would have to live in a box to live by rules that are that strict!
<stop all> contact with computers if you want to keep those rules!

You could always add the users to their ignore list. then they can't see their projects or comments.

Excatly! You make it sound like it's OK to have projects where animals are abused! Animals are people too! (In a way)

I was playing on brutal Legends the other day (great game BTW) and it gave you a choice. Do you want gore on or off? So I chose off. No be-headings be-armings and be-brainings, which was what would of happened if I turned gore on.
I believe left for dead does this too.
