How do you make a guy fall to the bottom of the screen but not on blak

How do you make a guy fall to the bottom of the screen but not fall when touching a black line?

And i could use some help on varibles, gravity, and X and Y postion

In Scratch 1.1 (the most updated version), push the "Choose a new sprite from file" button (the one that looks like a folder below the stage), then choose "Fantasy" and pick "JetPack Girl". The guy will fall to the bottom unless he is touching a black line.
