Duh. 'Cuz I was banned from the forums AND the main website.

However, I made a small unnoticed post on the TBGs, where I was not banned.

No. I deserved it... sort of...

I disguised /contact/us_banned as just http://scratch.mit.edu , which when you are banned, you are redirected to if you try and go to http://scratch.mit.edu .

So, a bunch of users thought they were banned.

And so, I was blocked until I agreed to follow the Terms of Use (Amos is very nice, he lets you off the hook easy  big_smile , actually ban was almost over anyway...)

But I was blocked from all except TBG, so most probably I assumed I was on vacation.

Re: Unbanned!

Hey... when the Scratch Team gives a full ban, they need to cover the Text-Based Games too! Blade-Edge has been on the TBG recently, actually...  yikes

Blade-Edge was banned before the new Text-Based Games were created, so that might not be too unexpected... but after the TBG was created, people that get a full ban should be banned in the TBG as well.  hmm

He disguised scratch.mit.edu as scratch.mit.edu/contact/us_banned like so:
scratch.mit.edu so people thought they were banned.

It's not fair.

And is it fair if I banned andresmh? No.

Yes, it has gone overboard.

Sorry you feel that way.
Basically, we've chosen to be quicker to block these days not because we like it - we don't. It's more or less a time saving measure. It takes a lot of time to explain to various Scratchers what happened, that they weren't really banned after they clicked the link, etc. It also takes a long time to clean up threads with disrespectful or mean posts (especially when everyone quotes the disrespectful post). So now we are much quicker to block the Scratchers involved, clean stuff up, and then sort it out when the poster contacts us.

I think the banning is the problem of both of us.

The Scratch Team has been unfair, because they have been more stricter.

The users though, mainly on the forums and such, have been unfair, because we feel like 'Oh, the mods know us. They know we're just users who they've known for a long time, so they won't do anything bad to us :P' but we really shouldn't. We have just the same rights as every other user.

So yeah...

Hey - thanks for saying this. It's really helpful to hear how things look from your perspective. To be honest, I hadn't really thought of it that way until I read this.

The scratch community is meant to be a safe place for younger scratchers to go.
I remember that when I was introduced to the F word (coincidentally on an online forum), and I didn't know that it was bad (as it was used as if it was common English on said forum topic), I got into trouble for using it... we don't want to have scratch blamed for this sort of thing, as much as we don't want to pollute the minds of our younger users.

So I support the stricter measures.

Bad people (think commercial spammers) could still do bad stuff in the TBG.

o.O

(to the F word part)

I accidentally said it while changing the first letter of duck to each level of the alphabet. I didn't even know I said something bad until my brother told on me.
