Some Planets

I just started using GIMP and tried making some planets. Tell me what you think of them.(How's that background coming, illusionist?  tongue  )

My first, blue earthlike planet.

My second: An orange, gas giant planet.

Please offer constructive feedback!  smile

Re: Some Planets

Those are good. I could use those on a wiki... It's not my wiki, and it needs planet pictures. Can you make some that you can see at least most of the planet?

I'll try. What characteristics of the planet?

We don't have any details for most of the planets yet.

If I look down on my screen, I can see the contrast between the foreground and the background.

Re: Some Planets

Did you make that from scratch (not program, I am really getting annoyed by this accidental pun now)?

Can you make a planet for me?

I want a planet that is about half covered in water, with lots of forests. Lots of islands, and a random desert!

If not, I'll try to make one with sketchup.

Wow... that Earth-like one is incredible.  yikes

Did you make the islands and such completely by yourself?

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Re: Some Planets

I use a generator in GIMP for the atmosphere, but I am the one who controls the texture, atmosphere density, shadow, etc.

I have yet to learn how to make the shadow smaller.  tongue
